Just got back from cleaning up at my parents house, my dad was storing 11 or 12 litres of paraffin in the garage (god knows why  ) anyways the container tipped over in the night spilling the whole lot onto the carpet, we've ripped the carpet up and taken it to the tip, however there is now a large, paraffin stinking stain on the concrete floor, i'm guessing the concrete has drawn a lot of it in ?

Are there any products I can buy to draw the paraffin out of the concrete and get rid of the smell, before buying some new carpet.

    thanks

If it’s not too large you could set fire to it to burn the residue off, but I am not sure I would risk it, either that you might have to wait for it to evaporate and/or dry out. Opening the doors would help to dissipate some of the smell.

Hopefully someone else has a better idea.

Yeah, stand back and Torch it if it's only a small radius spill!

Buckets of Water and an Extinguisher or two to hand obviously!

Paraffin will only burn with a wick and concrete being non combustible won't work. Applying heat will evaporate it quicker but maintain ventilation unless u want a build up of explosive gasses.

Disagree about the wick thing Kickboxer?

I use Paraffin to light my workshop incinerator (old open topped Stillage Crate) out back to burn the deluge of packaging we get lumbered with.

Also use it in a Plant Sprayer to light morning sticks etc for lighting an open fire or log burner.

Tiz a very controlled burn paraffin.

You could try washing the area with baking soda to remove the paraffin.

Not sure how 'the burn the fecker' route would go down if you had to make an insurance claim after the fact plus it would prob cause an even worse stink n black soot to boot!
