Went to see a 10 plated CB1000R, but the previous owner had dropped it on the drive and it had a scuffed bottom cover (easy to replace) and slightly scratched R & G crash bung (easy to replace)..... but it also had some small scratches at the top of the engine block, (ie not something that can be replaced).

Could a paint shop '' fill in '' the small scratches and then paint it to match the grey colour of the engine ? Or would it stand out like a sore thumb ?

I think it would be quite difficult to match to be honest, others might say different but I would avoid in the first place

Sounds like it's in mint condition then ;)

I'd let it go Hudson, it would always be in the back of my mind knowing it's been dropped and no way your going to get a exact match on the paint, also when you come to sell it on it may put potential buyers off

Just heard from the guy, a buyer is coming up with a low (ish) offer that he is going to accept, so the spray job is now not needed, your right, i don't think an exact match could ever be done.

Just seen the bike on ebay now ! Described as ' new ', and in immaculate condition !!! Except the drop of course..... bloody ebay. I suspect he has replaced the cover but there is no way he has managed to fix the engine block, i guess he is thinking that the buyer will not notice it, and maybe he is right, but it goes to show that you should always view the item first however its described.

Well avoided I reckon, because if he can't be honest about the knock what else is he hiding?
