Eyup, I would like to spray my rear sets black, can any of you suggest some paint?? I know powder coating will probably get mentioned but I'm buying tyres and a PCV this month so wanna keep it on the cheaper side... Here's a pic of my bike.. I think black rear sets would finish the look what do you think?
Did experiment with paint as I sell it.Etch primed my pillion pegs then sprayed them satin black. They looked good BUT the paint does rub off especially where the feet go and contact areas over time.I'm getting them powder coated which lasts alot longer.
Anything like that just find your local powdercoater that paints things like railings and lamposts etc as they just chuck them in with stuff they are doing already and chuck a bit of cash in their pocket But even at a alloy wheel place if you think about it only charge 40-50 a wheel so think in comparison of size 20ish is about right
Paint won't stay on 5 mins compared to powder coating! You'll waste more money in time/labor as well and still have to do it all again when it rubs off the following week.
Only paid £20 for mine to get done and had the pillion pegs done too so when i need to attach them back onto the adapter brackets everything looks even.
I was looking at getting my used sato rearsets refinished, they are already black but a bit scratched up so i've never fitted them. I think they are anodised at the moment, would'nt the powder coating fill all the holes in the adjustment holes and make them unusable?
i would get them powder coated, a really good option if you dont have the extra pennies this month, bike looks great by the way
I've always fancied doing my own anodizing, look quite simple on youtube, can any comment on how DIY anodizing deals with everyday use?
Andrew I'm not too sure on that one I only know people that have done standard ones, they may be able to plug the other holes? Best thing to do is take them along and ask them
Just watched a u tube vid on home powder coating, costs about 100quid for the equipment. So who wants to be the 1000rr powdercoater???
I got mine done here: Triple 'S' Powder Coating | Home i had a brand new spare set, so stripped them and decreased etc, and sent them off... Around £80 but the finish is brilliant. Soak the rubber on the gear lever in hot water so you can remove it though, then you can re use it. I had everything powdercoated, inc the shift rod etc...and the cover that goes inside the rear brake lever assembley. i can't remember where I got my rizoma pegs from, I think it was sportsbikeshop... They are £27 odd quid, so not dear and finishes the sets off a treat.
