Gents, Went start this morning, started to turn over then and then just the starter going, didnt feel like a dead battery so, checked charge state which is good, also topped it up for a few hours and tried again, still the same issue, I have a starter motor spinning up but not turning the engine. Suspect starter clutch, idler gears or possibly the starter motor has reversed itself, anyone know which way it should be rotating as it's easy enough to check? Just out of warranty dammit, so pulling apart myself. Any known issues before I start? Thanks Mike
Ok, taken a look at the manual, looking from the right hand side the crank rotates counterclockwise, so the starter clutch must do the same on start up, this means the idler gear rotates clockwise and the reduction gear counterclockwise leaving the starter motor rotates clockwise, anyone fault my logic?? The odds are it's not the motor but it's an easy check before pulling the casing off.....Mike
FYI, Sorted, starter motor and reduction gear teeth damaged, not sure what caused it (or which) , straightforward fix, starter motor and gear from breaker, ridiculous cost new....Mike
