Hi guys. I purchased this bike from one of the members on 1000rr.net and for various reasons it sat for much longer than I would have liked. I had it shipped from back east but by the time it got here, my genius friend who actually picked it up and shipped it to me, never disconnected the battery and killed it. Once it got here I tried starting it and jumping it but never got it to run. He rode it but I still haven't. Anyways, it's time to bring it back to life. I've pulled the radiator, swapped for new plugs, going to install a quick turn throttle, and some filters. I want to start the bike and make sure it runs before I spend any appreciable effort installing the other upgrades. The swingarm has been swapped and the chain cut so currently there is no chain. I plan on doing the following things and then trying to start the bike. Oil/filter change. Stator cover swap before adding new oil. Turn the pistons by hand to make sure not seized. I don't want to throw the timing off so if anyone can give their insight that would be appreciated. Inspect tank and fuel pump for rust (address if necessary - I have 2 tanks and 2 pumps). Gas was removed a long time ago so they've been sitting empty in storage for a while. Then - reinstall all + radiator +fluid. Start (hopefully). Would appreciate any insight on things I'm missing or useful bits of wisdom from those that have been there done that. I'm basically doing EVERYTHING at once and we all know how doing one thing wrong can keep everything from working properly. Thanks in advance to all who reply with (helpful) insight/advice.
