Hi all, this is going to be a long shot, but I am trying to get some advice and general prices on bike racing. I have been wanting to do it for years and am just trying to get an idea of what I am letting myself in for financially. I have decided to start on a CBR600RR and then should all go well, then go up to a Blade. Basically, what is rough cost for a weekend of racing (excluding any offs!!). Any help is much appreciated
get yourself on TrackDayRiders.co.uk The trackday riders place or motoforum for more info. If not I'm sure Bongo will shed some light...
Haha, that's true lol, although you can definitely do it on a budget to a point! I spend every penny i earn on racing. As you get deeper into it, you don't find more money, you just change what you spend the money on. My mates go out on a Saturday and buy clothes, or go out on the piss. It's all tyre money that though, you start to see life and money in the form of tyres! A pair of jeans and a night out is a front tyre!
i havent raced superbikes for a number of years , the last season i did was the 2009 spanish supermoto championships take out the cost of building the bikes with spare wheels and spares and the truck or van up ready to go . entries i paid for the season up front 1000 pounds so running cost over the season cost me around 2000 a race weekend for the practice day on friday and with tires and fuel for the bike and truck generators and spares i used and replaced , food drinks etc etc .
Thanks for that, I am going to get myself a cbr600rr for my first year and see how it goes from there. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Did you get my PM Bongo?
It can be as cheap or expensive as you want it to be. This is my first year racing and I turn up with bike on trailer and sleep in the car/tent. Entry is anything from £230-£300 depending on the circuit, then you need to factor in tyres and fuel and food for the weekend. I've been running race scrubs for the first few rounds to keep costs down so at a guess I've been spending around £400 per race weekend tops. But, the bug will bite and you will spend more. 600 is a good class to go into as they are kinder to tyres, so you'll get more use especially from the rear. I'm already thinking about how I'm going to be able to finance next year!!
