After some recommendations / advice really. I've bought an accident damaged 2008 blade and will be building a track bike over winter. I have almost everything for the build, but should I replace the standard HESD with an aftermarket non-electronic damper? Or stick with the HESD? - does anyone have experience to share between the two? If there is an overwhelming preference to replace the HESD on track, which steering dampers to people use and recommend? Thanks

I'd never used the standard damper on a blade, always had after market (GPR rotary, ohlins piston style).but my latest bike has the standard damper on,and tbh,as long as you don't mind some shake on the front,it's spot on as it is,may struggle a bit at tracks like croft which are bumpy, but even at oulton which has the front very light quite often it has worked fine.i do have an ohlins to put on it,but atm wont be bothering.

Ok thats great to know... so perhaps I will stick with the HESD for now, and see how I go.

If I were to look at another aftermarket damper, aside from the GPR is there any others that are recommended and won't break the bank?

Sprint used to be a good quality rebuildable unit. Not sure if they're still about.
