Just bought a good condition second hand slipper clutch but unfortunately it didn't come with instructions. It's the 04-05 one. Does anyone here have instruction please?! Kinda nervous about just bashing it in and getting it wrong.

cant find it on the net so will see if ican find it at home,it's been a while since I did one,but theres a good chance you'll need the big hex nut to tighten the clutch up (I have one if your stuck).

when putting your clutch pack back in,be carefull, there are 2 clutch plates thicker than the rest, theses go in first and last.

if you a have a basic understanding of how the clutch comes out then it's easy enough to do,just cant remember if the shim washer that sits behind the clutch basket (might even be I the clutch basket) is needed or not (depends on wether it's for an 04/5 or 06/7).

fire arthur a pm over, pretty sure he can explain how to do it better than me.

Hey was in work. Just back in. Yeah not there online. I fortunately have the tool from stm as well as a custom made one so I'm covered in that area but thanks. How can I make sure they are smooth? They look in decent shape but now I'm not sure. When you say the plates are thicker do you mean the actual friction plate is thicker or you mean the inner diameter of the plate?! Also mine came with 2 washers

I had a STM before my Suter. I might still have the instructions somewhere. I'll have a look and if I do will upload it to dropbox and post a link.

I love Suter slipper clutches. Have one on my Superduke R and it's been faultless and so far so has the one I have in my 05 Blade. The STM that came with the Blade shat itself at Snett and locked open, check there is not excessive wear in the ramps as Scooby said. You should be able to see if they are damaged by seeing if there is any wear around the edges. Suter aren't cheap but IMO are worth the extra dosh.

Personally I am a fan of Sigma, simple and VERY good slippers.

We ran a Suter in the RC8 cup, great clutch as is the STM.

Ok grand. Just in. Gonna check it out now and try post picks for verification of condition. So does the discolouration confirm damage? Thought the paint would come off because of friction from the bearings.

If you look in the channels you can see how pitted and worn they are. They should be smooth so the balls can move freely up and down.

my old stm did exactly the same as yours CK,the ramps wore like yours and the back plate cracked in exactly the same place, took a while to work out why it was slipping so much till we had a good old look at it all.

Yeah I wouldn't buy an STM if I could get a Suter. Mines been faultless in the Blade since I bought it and the one in my SDR is over 4 years old now and again faultless other than getting through a few clutch packs. The SDR one is very sensitive to pack thickness.

you could just adjust it with thicker steels,or are the plates wearing a lot?

I've never researched what bikes share steels with the LC8 tbh. Maybe I should try and find out as KTM only sell them in 1 thickness.... Or at least I think they do, will check today.
