This is probably going to seem a silly question, but I will ask it anyway :)

Are the stock decals lacquered over ? I would like to remove some of the silver decals on my black 06 model. On another site, I saw that someone had removed theirs, but I do not know how they did it.

So can they be removed ?
    If so how?
and is there a risk of colour difference between the surrounding area and the paintwork which was covered by the decals ?

Any other points to consider ?

    Thanks in advance Nigel

Remove the stock decals with a heat gun just lightly warm the decal an peel it off , they are not laquered over .
I removed a few decals from my 06 blade , no problems .

    Thanks KevB.

@Haggler, not quite sure about the colour, I have always thought they look silver. As to the why, I just like the plain black look. I have seen several bikes without them and thought how nice they look.

I used a hair dryer and some WD40 to remove any glue residue.

Be aware you may have a stronger colour under the stickers as they havent been weather beaten. I did this with a car I had that was just over 12 months old and you could see the outline. Bikes are slightly different as they dont normally live outside all the time.Hope this helps.

If so use some polish with some cut in it or some finishing compound to remove the outlines, should work fine. Red and Orange seem to be the worst for bleaching in the sun but with black I think you'll be OK. I assume it's black anyway looking at your avatar.

The deed is done, all decals removed, apart from the Honda one on the lower fairing.........undecided if it will stay or go as yet. Used hairdryer, WD40 and a little petrol for the stubborn bits. No marks at all and all polished up. Very pleased, cheapest mod I have ever done:) Please excuse the scenery, but it was chucking it down.

Looks good as is mate. Personally I'd keep the Honda decal at the bottom.
Amazing how little things can transform the look of a bike.

Thanks Colin, I am pleased with the new look. I also quite like the Honda decal. I have seen a couple of bikes with the bottom panel finished in high gloss like the rest of the bike and without the honda decal. It looks really nice but I suspect it would get quite badly chipped.

On order are some Brembo M4 front calipers and a Brembo RCS master cylinder and reservoir. These will be fitted along with Brembo T-Drive front discs and HEL brake lines. The rear brakes will have to wait a while........well they don't get used often anyway.

Those are some very tasty additions to the bike mate. Can't wait to see this on the bike.
You'll just need to watch and not go end over;)

With the amount of weight I have put on this year there is enough ballast on the saddle to keep the back wheel down Colin, no matter how good the front brakes are lol

It Looks a lot better, really nice bike. I wanted to do the same to my black blade when I had it, but didn't have the bottle.
