No not yet it's still sunny upp North,However Does it do any harm parking the bike up for a couple of Months in Winter (on the side stand) the reason i ask is all the weight looks like it would load up the left hand fork or is it better on a paddock stand which looks like it would load up both forks.
Oh good one. I can't fit mine across the back of the garage and get it onto the paddock stand so this could be interesting. Nice one Mike. BTW. How does it feel to get out of Accrington?
If you store the bike off paddock stands try and avoid painted floors too, put some carpet or cardboard under the tyre, it will stick to the floor if not.
I had to store my Blade outside for about 3 months last winter. I left it on the side stand (with a cover on and linked to the Optimate of course). No tyre flat spots, no fork issues, no problems at all. My KTM sits in the garage for months at a time - no problems there either. Can I also refer you to motorcycle dealers and their storage methods please
Agreed, just move the bike or spin wheels every few weeks if your worried about flat spots and once on side stand lift the bike slightly to unload the suspension
I do this, but you can also love the bike a bit once a month to stop this or put flooring/matting under the tyres which also help
Tyre and fork issues never played a part in storage issues what did was petrol. Carbed blades were notorious with blocked jets etc: being on the prop stand the petrol cascaded from float bowls towards No1& 2 cylinders. Injector blades need the fuel from the rail to be released before storing.
mines on front & rear paddock stands, under 3 quilts, in a heated garage/workshop. bloody thing will be ruined my march
Nice one. Last year i covered the bike up and put an oil heater on full time. Bike was really happy. Wife wasn't best pleased when she realised why there was no snow on the garage roof and the tiles were steaming. £250 extra on that months bill didn't go down too well either. Bless.
