Hi, purchased some parts from a guy who had a 2009 blade that he was converting to track bike. He had straightened the bars using the original clips one. What he said to me didn’t quite make sense so I thought I’d check it with you all. He said he swapped the clip-ons over (left to right) and had to shave off the lugs under the bars to get full lock end to end. is this correct? Just looking to get bars straighter than standard to help on track days.
Kind of. You can grind the lugs off the original bars to get full movement on them, but I don't know about swapping aftermarket clipons from left to right.
Swapping them over providing you have the clearances. Means that the bar starts at the rear of the fork so you can set them straighter without the bars being quite so far away. In theory it makes sense. Did you sit on the bike, what did you think?
Middle of the grip should end up close to where it is now but with less rake. Should pull you forward and elbows out.
