Hi all. Am new to this forum so hello from sunny Devon.
I have recently bought a 1000 rr 6 that had been converted to straight bars and no fairings. Have got all the bits to put back to standard but have come across a snag. The previous owner has cut the wiring loom that normally goes to the front lights and speedo. Does any one know if I can replace the loom without taking the engine out or am I better off rewiring from where he cut it off.
I like the riding position that the straight bars give but would like a speedo rev counter etc.
    thanks for any advice. Vinno

Hi there is a big multi plug on left hand frame spar by the fuseboxes etc you can just buy a headlight loom ebay plug and play unless he has played with the normal loom .

Hi thanks for fast response. No I have this loom still connected to the headlight. He has cut the loom from the bike that would normally plug into this. Think I could be in a world of hurt!

mmmmmmmmm You might be better off with a full wiring loom to be honest its not that bad of a job it aint changing a light bulb but every plug is different and usually colour coded. I cant think why he had the need to cut the big multi plug off the bike for he could of left that and worked out of the other side of the loom.

Yeah that was what i thought. So does the engine need to come out or can it just be squeezed through gaps in the frame?

Yes that the one. Am really pleased with it and it runs and rides really well. Have ordered a Dan moto exhaust for it and tail tidy and have put the blue n yellow tank etc on it. Looks good but really need a speedo on a bike like this.

    I like loud
Shouldn't be to bad then. Think I might take it to auto electrician first to see if he can fix it first.

Well I have gone ahead and bought new wiring loom.
Anyone got any tips to instal it when it comes. Once I have taken tank and air box out am I better to disconnect the complete loom and remove from the bike or disconnect and connect as I go?
    Thank you

I would do it as you go, that way you can follow the correct routing and will make it easy to see what plugs where
