Hi, today I went for a ride out with lee and Eddie , Going down a straight at about 60ish and coming to a roundabout , drop down the gears 6,5,4,3 stuck...? The gear would not drop too 2nd , pushed bike to side of road and where the gear indicator is it has a small line showing like a (dash, not number ) then gears went down to 2nd ,1st and to neutral , lee played with the clutch adjuster and off we went got to Crossgates and same thing happened again ,so far touch wood it not happen since Any ideas has to what this could be thank you Ps any technical stuff ask lee not me p.....
Did the actual gear box physically change down Barney and it was only the gear indicator showing this?
Do you let the clutch out between down shifts or Are you trying more than two downshifts at once? If trying more than two then its normal.if its getting Stuck just goung into second I would look at clutch Or selector fork problems.
Get it looked at mate as if I had gone another few feet when I had my gearbox issue it would of locked up on me and I wasn't hanging around! I think I would of been doing a pretty good superman impression over the handle bars
When I changed down I let clutch out mate 6,5,4,3 stuck , gear lever would not go down anymore , Got on side , pressed lever down would not move , but went up the box , went to 4th , then dropped back down to normal , gear indicator showed number but then just a dash , did this twice ,? But not on the ride home .
I had this on my old 125 which was due to a bent gear selector. It went up the gears fine but wouldn't go down more than 1 or 2 using a normal technique. If I touched the underside of the lever with my boot (not enough to change up a gear) I could then get it do go down again. Looking at it it was as though the lever wasn't returning back to the correct position when I was pushing down on it. Annoying but rideable as long as you remembered.
I would get that checked out, could be something gone wrong in the clutch, gear return spring or worst case a selector fork.
Thing is. Once it has done it once you'll never fully trust it again. I had a Honda CR-V that had a completely flat battery for no apparent reason, it wouldn't even open unlock the car with the fob. It let us down and missed an appointment, after that we were never had full confidence in it. It's gone now, and been replaced with a happy smiling Civic.
