    WOWIE!!!

    Close call this morning!!

It's wet out, light turns green, I cross the junction, line of cars going my way all bumper to bumper, there is a line of cars going the other way too, as the lights were red just a sec ago... One of the vehicles on my right was a truck, I was doing legal speed, easing through the traffic... I know there is a busy road alot of cars come out of ahead, as well as a petrol station opposite that, so i KNOW it is busy, taking my time...

    All of a sudden...

STUPID FUCKING KID comes out from behind the truck.

    No probs, on the brakes...

SHSSHSHSSHSHS - Yep, locked it up, sliding along, almost went to full right lock, and this kid is not even looking my direction.

So, I am gonna go down right?? and the kid will walk away laughing, right??

Nah, I need my bike more!!! I rather hit the stupid fucking kid who should have crossed at the light I just passed 20 metres down the street. I rather hit the kid and go down, rather than bin the bike all on my own.

So I let off the brakes in a split second, bike rights itself, he freezes, I have to pull my right elbow i9n to avoid touching him.

I stop and turn around to look at him, he's walking in the middle of the road, along the road now... Stupid fucking kid.

I just go along my merry way, a tad more cautious (EVEN more cautious cuz I was already being cautious).

    I hate stupid fucking kids!!!

Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach. Those who can't teach, teach.

One time , I avoided a stray ped, but then deliberately elbowed him as I passed, just to make a point :)
I supress those kind of urges these days, but I still can't resist the game of chicken peds often seem to want to play when they're crossing and I'm approaching a green light.

Darwin at work, bring my kids up to looks and be careful when crossing the road. I know too many adults that don't give a ceap when they cross

You can't lower pedestrian deaths rates when they don't know how to cross a road safely

I regularly shout at the kids on my estate to get out of the road, they seem determined to get run over:roll eyes:

One of the more stupid kids on the estate with his little brother was walking down the road earlier this week with his mum, and guess what…..they just walked down the middle of the road and didn't move for the car. I lent on the horn quite heavily and wound down the window to give her an earful.

Later that day as I was tinkering with my bike on the drive the husband came over to 'have a chat'. He left even more angry than he arrived after I explained that his kids seem determined to get run over, often playing chicken with cars and bikes on the estate and that his wife's example was part of the problem.
