Hi all, advice needed! 1 - I'm 6 5" and 100 kg, how should I set up my suspension given my weight? Should I make the preload harder? 2 - does anyone have a second hand rad? Or can recommend the best aftermarket one? 3 - what tyres are best? I want really grippy and reasonably durable, won't be riding in wet too often. Thanks all your input would be appreciated
Hello dude. im a couple of kilos heavier and 3" shorter but i got mine done a few weeks ago and its the nuts ! Give my settings a try and see how it feels... Good starting point !
Not sure what sort of help your after but I would tend to say more information would be required in order to better answer your questions. 1. Are you having any issues with the current settings applied to the suspension? What's it doing wrong you want to change? 2. Is your current radiator damaged or sprung a leak? If so you could normally have it re-cored and repaired for less than new unit. After market rads tend to be of the alloy or stainless steel variety and don't really come cheap when buying new? 3. The tyres question is a pretty rider specific thing and what characteristics on person likes another detests! But I have a set of Michelin PR3's on my bike currently and can't fault the grip or longevity levels myself so far. Dunlops sportsmarts are another good choice but there are lots of which tyres best threads about on here which go into tyres in a lots more detail.
You'll be hard pressed to find a bad sports tyre nowadays mate. They are so competitive and advanced now they all stick pretty well.. I love Michelin power pilots but started using Dunlop sportsmarts and they are performing real well. Always had a soft spot for Perrelli corsas too and i think they are using a version on the new 1000rr SP ! You can get your rad re-cored and its much cheaper than a OEM rad. Just google motorbike radiator re-core and theres loads of companies that'll do it, or failing that £160+ gets you a pattern one from ebay but never had any experience with one ! Whatever you go with id advise putting a rad guard on when you re fit your rad !!
Thanks for all the help guys, Blackness your suspension setting sheet is kinda jibberish to me, can you explain!?! I was thinking it was as simple as I'm heavy so I make my pre-load harder? Tyre wise I think Dunlop SportSmarts seem to be a popular choice, who would choose these or Pirelli SuperCorsas? Rad wise - I ordered a 150 ebay job from a reputable aftermarket company. AS3 performance.
Right dude... Forks, wind preload out fully soft then turn it 10 full turns hard Compression, turn it right in then turn it out 2 1/2 turns Rebound, turn it right in then wind it 1 1/2 turns out Shock, turn the pre load ring all the way round until 1 step off of max (step 9) Compression wind it right in, then back it out 3 clicks rebound, right in then 3 1/2 turns out... Hope you get what i mean now ! Tyres, don't think there will be much different but go for a 55 profile and it'll turn in quicker !!
