Want to get my suspension set up for the summer never had it done professionaly before can any one recommend somewhere near Bristol the only one i v heard of is jhs racing at keynsham has any one on here used them
JHS is one of the more expensive places in Bristol but they have a very good reputation. Saying that; I've not used them myself.
I had mine set up by them and was about £40 from memory, the difference was chalk and cheese I can throughly recommend them

I use JHS for mot and service but for suspension set up I would highly recommend http://www.mhracing.com/ They did mine, Denzil when he was on his R1 and my mates Fazer. Well worth looking at and the guy really knows his stuff. And I would use him again without a issue I think it was about £40 but the difference after was like night and day and made a huge difference toa stock suspension
I use JHS a lot, he has done a lot of work for me on various bikes, may be a tad expensive sometimes. very good at suspension stuff though.
After years of fiddling/experimenting I set up my own suspension. Once you get your head around the preload, rebound, compression differences you can feel the difference with small changes. I've had a few friends ask to set up theirs but when I ask "whats it doing then?? ie diving, wont turn, bouncing" most reply" I duno". How do you fix "duno", so rather than play with theirs I usually reccomend them to a Rob at Lakeland Bikes Cumbria. I'm around 13.5 stone geared up and a few of my friends (including and ex racer) have commented on how sorted it is. Not a million miles away from standard settings to be honest.
I'm about the same as you I'm 13st with all the gear on can I ask you what tyre pressures your running
35 front 39 rear, gives the right amount of feel, I know it doesn't sound a big change from stock pressure but you defo feel the difference.
I've always run 36 - 42 ... Despite suspension being professionally setup I still reckon it's too hard ... Might try playing with the pressure next
Defo take a couple of psi off the back and give it a try, I was very sceptical at first but once I did happy days.
Yeah, rear shocks a turd but you make the best of your options unless you want to spend big on TTX etc.
Not just me that thinks that then ... I will be looking for a twin tube unit then from 2012 > or an upgrade to TTX...
Shock upgrade is on my wish list but that's AFTER the wife has bled me dry on home improvements. Still trying to find away of losing the price of a new shock in the home improvement budget. Cant really disguise it as a new toilet seat mechanism lol
Just booked mine in for suspension set up tomorrow at Jordans Bikes Leeds, £40 and part of that goes to air ambulance. There's still a few slots left if anyone was thinking of having it done professionally and donating to great cause at same time
