Soooo, I'm a total newbie when it comes to suspension setup on a bike. I've no idea whether the previous owner deviated from the standard settings or what the standard settings are. Can anyone tell me how it's done and what settings I might want to use? The bike's just used for road riding :)

Best thing mate imo, take it to a professional to set it up for your weight and riding style! Best money you can spend on a bike after decent tyres...

If you don't know exactly what your doing, you'll end up tying yourself up in knots....

Ah right. Cheers, Jimbo. I did wonder. I saw a website a while back with Performance Bikes' and MCN's suggested settings and wondered if it'd really be that easy :D

sure it would be fine mate, but you can get it done for anywhere between £50 - £100 quid, ride in, couple hours later and its sorted.... if your like me and not clued up then i think its the easiest and best option....

That's always the snag, Jimbo. We're not exactly tripping over people who do that sort of thing around these parts. Hell we only stopped throwing our faeces out of the window into the street a couple of years back :D

Awww, it's a shame you've stopped doing that. It was a great tourist attraction.

I've found a bloke in York who does suspension setups. Takes about 30 minutes and he charges £45. Sounds like a better idea than pissing about with it :D

For that it's worth a shot at least mate.... Just ask him to note your current settings and what he has changed them too... That way you can always put back yourself if you don't like it!

ps - sure its fine but in my experience they normally take at least an hour?? not sure if thats right though - he might just be brilliant at it?? lol

A mate of mine has arranged a suspension setting day with a guy called John from Alpha Suspension who's coming up from Leeds to Newcastle for the day, we've 12 confirmed so far i think. Looks like your in Teeside so not too far away if you fancied it. He's up on the 21st of April i think. If your interested let me know and i can pass my mates details on.

Cheers, mate. Appreciate you letting me know. Unfortunately I've already given this guy in York the nod so I'll have to bow out.
