So.....I know this is a common topic but hoping someone might be able to explain things in a little more depth for me.

In short I put some money to one side for a training course that I now can't do so gonna head to MCT and get the suspension setup. A tad expensive but there's no one else nearby.....

Was just going to get the setup but then the bloke I spoke to on the phone said changing the oil and springs in the front would transform the bike. Obviously new stuff is going to be better as not worn but is it worth the extra £150ish?

Got an 07 with about 8k on the clock if that helps any.......

I have a fair bit of mechanical knowledge but know very little about suspension setup so if anyone can help would be grateful :)

Hi Phil, I use MCT and have done for a few years now. They are very good and they are trustworthy. As far as I am aware, the stock springs are a little short and are tailored for the average weight rider. MCT put in slightly longer springs that are matched to your weight and put in a much better oil.

The suspension gets set up for your weight, the guy takes it out to test it himself then you take it out and test ride it. If you think it needs adjusting in any way then they will adjust it and let you test it out again.

I have an 06, so same bike as yours. It really improved the handling on mine and made it feel like a different bike. There are others on here with all the tech stuff, but from a practical sense, it is money well spent IMO.

Nice, thanks for advice exfire. Had a couple people recommend them but not a clue about it so wanted to check as they seem to charge a lot more than others....

Did you have anything done with the rear shock or just the front?

Hi Phil - if the bike is still running with the original fork oil it will be piss poor in any case so well worth putting some quality new oil in if nothing else. The right set of springs for your weight, new oil and a proper setup should transform the bike.

Be interested on some feedback when done.
