New tyres on this morning and they bloody fitter has given me a nice circular 2 inch scratch on my swing arm. Obviously Fuming. They won't admit it's them and after much ranting I've left the shop. Had this with another bike few years ago went to small claims and lost so basically I'm fucked. Anyway. Can a silver swing arm be repaired?, polished??? Or is it a case of some strategic stickers to hide the damage.. Any ideas?
depends how deep,if it's just a surface scratch it should polish, but a nice HRC sticcker,or renthal (most peoples choice) will cover it.
The simple answer is yes, but it depends how much you want to pay. I've got quite a few watches and I recently sent my 'everyday wearer' back to the manufacture for a service overhaul. It has a brushed steel bracelet and case which was battered and scratched from 3 years of daily use, it came back looking like new. The service did however cost £370. I'd think sorting out a swingarm would be much simpler, so should cost less.
Exactly the same prob i had, my bike was only 2 mths old. I was seething, and they denied doing it. It definitely was the paddock stand they used, a nice 2 inch scratch. I used some yoshi stickers to cover it up, as with it lacquered aluminium you cant polish it out. Gutted mate.
Unfortunately if it's a 2008 onwards blade, then the swinging arm is laquered, so it makes polishing out the scratch difficult. Hence I always take the wheel out myself and take just the wheel to the fitters.
That is really annoying . Had a similar thing years ago with a garage that had worked on my bike and scratched a fairing, they denied it of course. I asked the manager if they got many showroom bikes damaged. I don't know why but he had a change of heart and got my scratch sorted.
From now on I'm taking the wheels off myself end of. Hacked off as my bike was mint. Will try polishing first if not gonna have to be the sticker route I think :-(
It's very unfortunate and even worse that they are not honest enough to admit any wrong doing, best practice in my opinion and the same with the car is ask for member of staff to come out with you and check the vehicle over for damage before any work is carried out. This way the technician / and the whole garage are aware of your vehicles condition making them take more care when working on it and if anything should happen to it they no option to admit responsibility
That's so annoying! I had it recently with the mrs' car took it to a well know tire chain and got it back with identical tire lever bar marks on both fronts! When I went back they'd even cut the side wall of one of my old tires to try and say I'd kurbed it still didn't explain the two identical marks and no damage to the lip of the wheel, then called me a liar basically to my face. Complained to their head office visit from the regional manager later I got to choose where I had them re-furbed, still annoying on a year old car!!! Are they a chain ie can you contact head office and complain etc might be worth a go
Not seen you on here for ages phantom, sorry to hear about the swing arm looks like you may have to find a nice sticker. I would put something in an official sounding letter
Nice to see you back phantom and sorry to hear about your scratch problem, it can be polished out but with need to be anodised and then lacquered after to get it back to what you have now, might be worth a quick call to your local honda dealer to find out if they know of someone close to you who could carry this out for you
Being a new dad has kept me busy!! Forum time has been limited...! Still fooking annoyed but shit happens a nice sticker for now and will have to see if I can get it Re finished slow time....
