    190/50 to 190/55

Has anyone changed their rear tyre to a 55? I really would like some feedback from this forum before I go ahead and do this. I'm replacing the Battle axe's (which i find dreadful) with some Metzeler Sportec M5 Interact.

Its a right old chestnut this. Consensus is it improves turn in at the expense of stability. Personally I wouldent, but no doubt others would

I never bothered, just got the suspension set up.
Also try some pilot powers or power pures as I always
Found they work very well with the blade. The pures
Especially seemed to improve tip in and direction change speeds.

55's every time mate! What they do is give you more stability when you need it most......cranked over mid-bend. You won't even notice the instability when you're upright.
It's not the end of the world if you try it and don't like it but you never know what you could be missing!
You see pics on here of dudes really cranked over, chances are they're on 55's.

Going for 55 next time myself.

Also, your going to love the metzelers m5, been using them since they came out... Very stable cranked over and good wear too.

If you dont ride fast and get some serious lean angle then chances are you will not get much benefit from the 55, but even if your not ridding fast you wont really loose any performance over the 50 rear so i see it as a no loose situation

55 every time for me. Personally I think it's sharpens it up. Phantom is bang on the money with suspension set up though, best thing you can do if you keep the 50 or go with the 55.

On the same topic Jimbo Could the suspension be tweaked by a company by fiddling and altering stock settings or is it the likes of A Maxton ect Ta my love.

if the 55 is the better buy. why do they put the 50 on as standerd you would think they no best ? i had 55 on the R1 standerd. and now on the blade 50 but the blade does go around the bends much better than the R1

Good question dude .When I asked Paul Fairclough at SMD Tyres who does all the Fast bike and Superbike changes for reviews he said to me that I would not feel any difference ......But the boys on here love them and who can argue with that ?

I would never go back to a 50 after fitting 55's to my blade. I do not notice any instability and the bike turns in really nicely.

As for suspension set up, best improvement for your money IMO. The Blade is a great bike but set up for your weight and the type of riding you do it is even better.

Get the stock tweaked mate. Be amazed at the difference.

Got maxton internals on the r1, they are great must admit, but the stock gear is plenty for the roads set up right. Be the best money you've spent on the bike I promise ya. Where else can you spend £50-100 to transform your handling

It also comes out of the factory without a brembo m/c, m4's and t drives but i would consider that brake setup to be better than honda provide :)

But 50 & 55 profile tyres cost the same, so that comparison's not valid.

Does a 55 profile upset the insurance companies or is it approved?

They will find anything they can to get out of it.
Even stickers are considered a modification.
