I'm heading off to the Alps next week, done it a few times, about 2.5k miles, lovely jubbly. I don't want a tank bag but small 2" thick tank pad to rest my chest on would make the hours of 100mph autoroutes easier. Anyone seen anything like that? TIA
Good idea. That lead me to 281067893776 which comes in small pieces of 20/40/60mm so I'll try to decide which it is & have a punt. If it doesn't compress much 40mm sounds about right...
I did Alps several times, so I know how boooooring are the first 400miles from Calais ;-) However, I would still opt for a tankbag. I used Kriega US-10 and even US-20, but the former would be a better match for your expectations. ...and do you really need a chest rest? At 100mph the wind should lift most of the weight from your wrists and back?
Yes, wind blast does take some weight off, but I have the MRA double bubble screen & I like to rest my chest on the bare tank which puts my helmet/torso low enough to be completely behind the screen. It's spookily quiet & calm at 3 figure speeds but would be easier on my back an inch or 2 higher. Might be easier to stuff a small cushion up my jacket if there's room lol
Indeed it is 'spookily quiet' ;-) ... but how about the stability? I rested my chest on the tank at high speeds, but only for 10-20sec as I was always concerned about what could happen if I hit the bump...?
