Hi guys. I have looked at what Stompgrip, R&G and Eazi-grip have to offer and none of them look that appealing. My problem is that I would ideally need them situated on the black plastic trim on the sides of the tank as that's where my knees contact the tank: I would say that the surface is difficult to bond to and assume that's why these companies only make pads that adhere to the painted parts of the tank surrounding this trim. Surely some aftermarket company will release replacement grippy panels as complete swap out replacements?
Stomp grip provide for both the plastic and the painted parts and it sticks to both real easy. Or at least the packs up to 2016 do.
I did lots of searching but no one seems to do a grip for the actual part of the tank where your knee makes contact (the textured, unpainted black part) so I bought a pair of R&G universal grips which will do the job. Not tailored by any means but the look ok and you’d barely notice they were there if you weren’t aware of them. I had to heat both surfaces before applying as the textured plastic is difficult to bond to.
Very subtle and non-distracting, although I still have my own personal distaste of R & G plastering their logo so prominently on their products. Will be interested to learn if you have a better 'feel' when riding.
Yeah I’m not a fan of the R&G branding either but it’s a choice between leaving an empty hole or putting their badge in so they’ve kinda got you.
