Lots of these types of sites have been popping up charging a service fee for applying for passports/licences/tax discs etc. that's if they even do anything some just take ur cash n then link you back to the correct gov site!

Moral of the story is make sure your using proper .gov.uk sites for all your applications!

    Dave,

That's from the site in question but should some of the blaim not lie with the person trying to use the site for not reading over whats written on the page before using it and giving them money and or private info?

I am in no way condoning the sites actions and it's blatantly only there to take advantage of people that don't fully read websites before getting the cards out to pay for something!

They are not a new upcoming thing and various sites like this have been about for years (email phishing mostly) where they are created to look like banking sites and such to get bank details and passwords this is just another incarnation of those but they are charging you for a service rather than just stealing all your money for doing nothing.

On a similar vein, a lady at work got conned out of £20 or so when renewing here European Health Insurance (EHIC) card...... this is totally free on the government website but there are tons of scammer sites that charge you, then simply route your submission to the government site.

There are loads of these sites popping up, driving tests and theory tests too, they all work on the idea that people go on Google rather than just going straight to www.gov.uk

You get a reminder in with the .gov web address on it.
Why would anyone really want to use another site ?
    Doesn't make sense.

Similarly for passports, drivers licence etc.
