Hi All, Bit of tricky situation and this might be an impossible request but I need some advice on Tyres please - Essentially at the moment I am running PR3's that have been fabulous in the winter however I don't really want to be running farmer giles tyres in the summer and given that mine still have plenty of wear left having only covered some 2k miles I want to save them and stick them back on in November. Now given that I ride my bike everyday come rain or shine I need something that will grip in the wet but here comes the fun part I also need something that will be good'ish on track too as I plan to do a few track days this year but don't want to have to keep swapping wheels over etc. Also another nail in the coffin is that most of my commute is A127, M25 and A13 into London so I need a tyre that won't be Huey Lewis and the News in 1 months time (Hip to be Square). I have heard of Pirelli Rosso Corsa's being particularly good and they have improved on the 2 design giving the centre a bit harder compound for better touring capability but the soft stuff at the sides for nice grip on the track. Has anybody else got some suggestions? I don't really want Bridgestone T30's as I did a couple of track days on one last year and the marbling from them was pretty horrific. I like the BT 016's but having heard that they wear out in 2k miles seems like a waste of money for me as I cover 1200 miles per month in commuting alone. So does anybody know of any really good all rounders that don't look like tractor tyres lol?
Cool thanks man I will have a read up on them think I might have had them on my 09 R1 and did think they were great for grip and really good in the wet considering the tread pattern on them.
It's Sportsmarts for me also mate. Plenty of grip in the rain (2 days of touring Scotland proved this). Great grip in the dry, and also great mileage. They also just brought out theyre new second generation Sportsmarts, which are meant to be even better.
Cool thanks guys good to have a bit of variety I will check them out not had Metzler's before a mate of mine has them on his S1kRR and swears by them.
I had michelin pilot power 3 on my blade and the were brilliant in the wet and dry! hey were doing cash back at the time i bought so got the set for about £205! MICHELIN Pilot Power 3 - Tyres On-road | MICHELIN - Motorcycle - United Kingdom - Motorcycle-website
