So I had a decent offer on the hrc last night and accepted it. He's coming at the weekend to pick it up. So now here's the problem, what do I get now ??? Going to have upto 4 grand to spend. I have been thinking an original r1 or an sp1, great bikes that should only go up in value now or an older cbr1000rr but other ideas would be good. Over to you chaps
I paid £3400 for my RR4 about 12 months ago so good deals are out there and your should be able to get a lot go bang for your buck!
Tricky one but Think I would sway towards an SP1 but for that money it would have to be near standard (hate bikes that have been tricked up with crap from m&p). Service history, good condition, 16k miles max, all old MOTs, HPI clear. Love the SP1. Good luck mate.
I would be looking for a nice SP1 for that money although there are some very nice R1's about for that cash, both will be solid buys Bet your HRC buyer is one happy chap
I do love the VTR1000's but it must be said, when I had a play with an SP2 just prior to buying my Blade I found that, ergonomically it left a bit to be desired. I was glad of the seemingly small range just so I could stretch my legs at the petrol station. Now I'm a 5' 8" shortarse JG but I understand that you top me by a tad in a vertical challenge. I reckon it would take some pretty skilled origami to fold you into one comfortably for any length of time. Plus, when I brought up the tight fit on such a big bike with SP, Kai, the salesman told me that the SP2 was an improvement on the SP1 in this department. Might be worth you spending more than a half hour test ride should you find one you like.
Hi Jollygiant, I had an SP1, loved the looks and the sound, but found it more than a little uncomfortable after 30 mins. Mine had a few handling issues, no doubt they could have been sorted out. Although in some peoples eyes the SP1 is more desirable I think the SP2 is a better bike and a lot of people who have ridden both say the same. A lot depends on what you want from your bike and how you will use it. I have a soft spot for R1's, love their aggressive look and feel but I also like the GSXR's which handle superbly and the Kwak aint a bad bike either. Not very helpful I know, but they are all pretty good. I personally would steer away from my favourite....the Ducatis...unless you want to be continually poor.
If you can stretch to £4300 firm I know a man with an 07 56 plate blade with goodies on it.Its at Colwin motorcycles for £5295 selling on his behalf. If you want his number pm me.Nice looking blade.
James, tough one this mate.. if it was me i would go for an 05/06/ blade those green things are minging and those blue and white things are made of jelly, not that much choice if your after a sports bike of quality.
If your looking for an every day bike I would go for another blade mate. If its a bike thats purely for those Sunny Sunday blast then get an SP1. As said above the SP's ain't the most comfiest nor the easiest bikes to ride, but that makes it more interesting. Well for me anyway.
Few different views then. It's going to be a Sunday bike and the odd other evening or free day I get, certainly not an everyday bike. Phantom - already watching that sp1 but the blade is a bit far from me. Sideways - that seems a big drop in price, I guess that's not through the dealer at that price. Sounds like I need to find an sp1 to have a sit on and see how it fits me. I am at the mo leaning towards a 98 r1 although a rr4/5 would prob be a more sensible buy. Goin to have to keep looking
I think I remember him saying 6'5 or 6'7 but I suppose it depends if you have longer legs or torso etc
If your a big fella how about an Aprillia Touno or a Triumph speed triple 1050 for that kind of money.
Why have you sold such a nice machine??? Ive ridden quite a few bikes and the blade is just magic for me!
Im 6'5" so it sounds like an sp1 is a no go. Sold it due to money reasons, not so much i cant afford the repayments but more i can use it for other things and i dont really need a near on 7 grand bike sat doing feck all in the garage most of the time. Id rather pay for one outright thats around 4 grand, not worry about any repayments etc and i'll be able to ride that just as well as the blade. Dont want a sit up bike, tried a ktm superduke which i think would be a great second bike but not for my main bike.
