Loved the round the world one, that was brilliant, but I thought in this one the were a pair of luvvies with their egos showing too much and was much more about all the great work they do for charidee rather than two mates out for a bike ride.

    Just my two bob, though.

Agree with the comments on LWD. I think they were trying a bit too hard to recreate the camaraderie and bonding of Long Way Round, which you can't do consciously. It was an organic thing where they all came together as largely strangers and went through an experience together, which you only do the first time really.

My main gripe with Long Way Down is that they seemed to spend most of the time with the support crew which lost a lot of the "3 bikers out on their own" feel which made LWR better for me.

They mooted Long Way Up a few years back, doing the Pan-American trail up from Argentina to Alaska. I would still love to see that especially as I think they'd have learnt from the mistakes of LWD.

ETA: Also worth adding that I don't get the anti-Ewan & Charley sentiment that you used to see a lot of in MCN. They've probably done more for the cause of biking in the last decade than anyone else.

Tyke, if you want I can lend you the DVD of it, and LWR for that matter.
Even the Dakar one if you are interested.

I enjoyed LWD, just not as much as LWR.

My main gripe with it was the fact that it seemed more like a mcgregor family trip with charlie taggin along.....what was with the wife taggin along....to be fair though I'd like to see another one, maybe north to south america??

I think nobody was more surprised by that than Charley Boorman, Chrissy. A genuine TV WTF! Moment.

Yeh I suppose I wasn't keen on that either.
More because she was a pain in huge arse more than anything.
Still, at least she learnt how to fall off a bike with minimal damage.

Watched LWD now really good still. Ive seen a couple of charley only spin offs but they just dont have the comradery and comedy of the pair of em. For me they should go back to LWR style and do another tour just them claudio and the crew!
