So I went on EBay and ordered a Puig screen for the new bike. I had the same screen before on the 2015 and really liked it, so it was a no brainer. Scanning EBay I found a suppler in Wales, Brooks Barn Motorcycle Parts, at a decent price with free postage. Thought to myself "this should be here quicker than ordering from le continent and less hassle". There was a bit of a wait for the screen and it said so on the order page. So not being in a rush I ordered and waited. A couple of days ago a nice big box arrived with Parcel Force. All excited (sad I know) I opened the box and there inside was the screen, unceremoniously dumped into the box, no padding, just in a plastic pack. So out comes the screen, packet opened and the bottom part of the fitting is snapped off. There was also no shrink wrapped plastic covering the screen like the previous one and on closer inspection it was scuffed and has some light scratching. Ok, so reading their returns page they say they get lots of email, please raise a case though EBay. So that's what I did and after a while I initially got some communication. It then seemed to break down when they said they'd send a returns label and asked what day I wanted the collection. After saying "tomorrow please" and the end of day arriving, I assumed that my re-arranged day waiting around for a courier wasn't going to happen. The following day I'm on it again, update the EBay case asking if there's anyone there, email them, track them down through Facebook and send them a message and finally I get a message back. Low and behold, they can't get a courier out to me now as it's the same day, it will have to be tomorrow (bare with me - which is now today). Anyway I'm now emailed a returns label (eventually yesterday afternoon) and like a good boy I carefully put the broken screen back into the box, seal it and attached the label. So today I've sat here waiting around, on another re-arranged day (you can probably tell from this long winded post), waiting for the Parcel Force man to arrive and sort out my collection. About an hour ago a Yodel van turns up and we stand looking at one another wondering what's going on. I'm there holding a box with a Parcel Force label and he his magic Yodel scanner, neither of which are compatible. Back around in circles we go. I update the EBay case, send a Faceache messenger message and email them asking why they sent Yodel?? Reply finally arrives saying "Oh no we didn't" (you can see where this is going) and I say oh yes you did. I really don't spend my time arranging courier collections for non existing parcels. Next reply is "Oh, oh yes we did. Err, but we also arranged a Parcel Force collection". Hmm. So questions need answering . . . am I waiting in for a mystical Parcel Force collection or am I preparing to chase these lot again? Am I just a one off and unlucky or is this the level of customer service everyone gets? Am I likely to use them again in the future or avoid like the plague? Am I going to write an overly long rambling post on a forum for a fairly inconsequential thing? I think we know the answer to that one. I suppose we'll see if this mythical beast arrives in his (or her) shiny red van (actually it's probably been ragged to death and quite dented).
Damn!! Some actually writes more than me! I share your pain, DF. eBay is a lucky dip, and like PayPal is extremely difficult to communicate with when there's a problem. It's a sign of the times when consumers are constantly fobbed off by some traders (both on and off line). The online problem is worse because there's no means of direct complaint resolution. Of course you're protected by online trading legislation, but how does that help you QUICKLY receive the merchantable product you paid for? Right, it doesn't. None of us can help, except to say be patient; all SHOULD work out in the end. Just sit down with coffee and adore your new helmet. Gotta go now - grooming the sporran!!
I did try to remember who I bought the 2015 screen from but there doesn't seem to be anyone else in the UK at the moment. I've ordered another one from Germany now and they've already shipped it. I just hope it turns up on 1 piece. It's just annoying that I've had to swallow the cost of the other one whilst I'm now chasing a refund. It's probably fairly obvious, but I wrote this whilst sitting there waiting for a reply. Hope the trip goes well tomorrow.
I'm sure I read yesterday of another member having bought a screen and part was chipped. His at least had SOME wrapping. Yep, leaving at 5.30 am so I arrive by midday. Might stop along the way for Haggis and cappuccino to give me both the Scottish and Italian mood!
It's a difficult part to find unfortunately. I did try Sports Bike Shop first to see if they'd got a Zero Gravity in stock as an alternative. Apparently they aren't expecting anything for the new Blade for about 6 months.
Having tried lots of screens over the years I can't help but think the genuine Honda higher screen would have been your best option. Not the cheapest I know! But it's going to fit perfectly and the quality will be unquestionably. Hope you get it sorted.
Got a Puig winging its way over from Germany, it's already been dispatched. I'm relying on German efficiency. I looked through the Honda accessories before I ordered and I don't think there's a screen available yet. The screen that came off the 2015 and the Puig were comparable quality wise.
I had the same problem with a sprocket that I ordered from brooks barn motorcycle parts. After waiting 9months for Demon Tweeks to send out my supersprox and then still being told they hadn't received it, I cancelled the order. Found the same one on eBay being sold by brooks, so ordered it and going by the delivery, it would be here in a few days. A week passed and nothing arrived, so emailed them. Another week, still nothing and no reply to the email. 3 weeks and still nothing, so emailed again. 6 weeks passed and got an email saying the shipment had been held up, but it would be with me in a few days. A few days passed and nothing arrived. So the whole process of emails started again. After nearly 4 months I finally got my money back, with not even so much as an apology from brooks.
After waiting in for most of the day the 2nd courier eventually turned up and collected. I suppose we'll see if the refund is forthcoming. As soon as they said they were going to send a postage label they asked me to close the EBay case. The only way I could close it by was saying I no longer wanted a refund or I'd already received the cash. No chance that was happening, not until the cash is back in the bank.
https://puig.tv/en/tuning-motos/windscreens-for-fairing-bikes/racing-screen?bike=20853 I ordered the dark smoke.
Can I just ask......what is wrong with the standard screen?? I know it's' all personal preference an all, and I've had my fair share of double bubble and tall screens in my early days of riding bikes and wanting to make mods for the sake of it, but I just don't see the need for them. The standard screen (clear) is more than adequate and must have been tested in a wind tunnel or whatever by Honda so they obviously work. Anything else is just a fashion accessory in my opinion, plus I think they look shit!! It might be just the Jim Beam talking on a Friday night but embrace the standard screen and spend your hard earned on something else haha Ps this is aimed at my dislike of double bubble/tall screens and no one in particular.....just for the record
Now there's the thing, the double bubble exists for a reason, the reason being it actually lifts more wind blast off the chest. Now this here Puig isn't actually a double bubble in the usual sense of the word. It's not double curved or has a large bubble thing going on in the middle, it's still short, but it's designed to still break up and lift the airflow and after using one before I found it actually works. The other benefit for me, being the owner of a dodgy neck and clinging to sports bikes for as long as I can, it gives me some neck relief. So for me, it's actually a better upgrade than most things, other than buying a Harley.
I see your point now having had a look at the Puig, it's more subtle and closer to the the angle of the original screen but with the grooves on each side. If they work and it helps you with comfort then great. Any of those double bubbles or tall screens though you're at risk of making your bike look like a Pan European........ Hell, when I can't get behind a standard screen anymore I'm gonna buy a Pan European!!! haha
Yes, they've reduced the screen and the whole frontal area. It's one of the "improvements". I'm not overly keen on double bubble screens, that's why I ended up with this one on the last bike.
