I read some where something similar to the bottom of the statement that people add it to fuel to obtain the smell. Oh the days, I too loved the smell. My dad used to do a bit of stock car racing. And grass track. 1975-1980's
My Dad used Castrol R40 back in the day when he raced oval Hot rods. His first car after getting back into Hot rods at 60 ; I loved that smell, when I was around his house a couple of years ago, he fired up his 20L red top and I got the smell of Castrol R again What he did, was add a cap full of castor oil which he bought from the local chemist to the fuel cell (tank). Modern oils are far better then Castrol R40 but the above gave the R smell Below is something I found on another forum: If you want to smell the 'perfume' of burnt castor oil, put a very small amount (max 10 cc) of castor oil in a 5 litre container of petrol, shake it thoroughly and add it to your petrol tank, then fill the tank with petrol. If you do this occasionally, it should not do any harm. I know people who have done this on modern road bikes with no ill effects. Have fun! It is such an evocative smell of a simpler age. At the Silverstone Classic last month there was a fog of it hanging over the place. Luverley... But let's not lose sight of the fact that you're smelling it because the engine's burning it in a desperate attempt not to lunch itself. Nostalgia's great in its place but give me microscopic magnetic particles keeping metal bits apart as they pass each other at ludicrous speed any day.

I am not sure it would be a good idea. Your expensive fuel injection system is designed for fuel only, not a fuel oil mixture. If you want a Castrol R fix buy an MZ

well if the tech guy from castrol says that a teaspoon worth in a tank is ok I would like to think he knows what he is talking about.I used to put a capful of the glow fuel used in RC cars into my vfr400 its castor based and gives the castrol R smell but I havent tried adding a teaspoon of castrol R to any of my other bikes,love the smell and smell it at a lot of the road races here mmmmmmm
so does that make us real petrol heads that we can even get a hit from the smell of burning fuel and oil :S
Interesting idea. I used to think I was a petrolhead because I could syphon petrol and not gag until I saw my mate testing hydraulic fluid by dipping his finger into it and tasting it. I know when I've been Top Trumped.

An old work colleague of mine used to find his way around the darkroom by dip tasting the trays. The wash water isn't too bad but the dev and the fix.........
2nd day running castrol R oil and a few observations. ... One, you don't smell it when you ride obviously Two, when you stop at lights and the wind is just right. .......oh you near have a little accident
