Did my first trackday on the blade on Monday, and found that there was a lot of slack getting back on the throttle. As it was wet, and my first track day in 10+ years and the first one with > 100 bhp, I was trying to be gentle getting back on the gas, and found it really difficult to get it just cracked open. May just be practice I guess. I was wondering whether the HRC quick action throttle might help with this?

    Cheers,

    Pete

Best thing to do is adjust it first.
Either at the throttle end or under the air box. Even with the quick action throttle you will get a bit of slack without doing so first.

My mate tightened up my throttle as it was a little loose and had some play which sorted it out for me mate unless you're referring to how far you need to rotate the grip?

Its how far I have to rotate it until it opens at all, rather than how much I need for full throttle - which I guess is what the HRC quick throttle jobbie does?

You can adjust the free play using the wee knurled nut type thingies which are on the cable tube next to the throttle. I had the same in mine and just tightened it up. Just make sure that going from full lock to full lock doesn't cause the throttle cable to pull and rev the engine.

Mate that's just too much play in your throttle that can be tightened easily I had the same problem and with tightening I now have instant throttle on as soon as I touch it. Quick action throttles reduce the turn required to get to full throttle I believe. I wouldn't want quarter turn from min to max throttle on a 1000 personally

Throttle should have a little play, should the bike find a deep pothole you'd have that slack to regain control.

Yep I agree! I had to relearn the throttle delivery during my track day due to my friends helpful adjustment. A little play makes applying throttle in corners a lot less nerve wracking and twitchy ;)

I had HRC quick action throttle kit on the blade and now have one on the CB it really isn't on and off aggressive throttle like you would expect, its virtually identical down the rev range, but you get full throttle without having to adjust your grip, I love it and its a great mod :)

To OP adjust cable first but if your doing trackdays often I would invest in the QAT you will love it ;)
