Just wondering if there's any way of dropping the engine enough to get to the engine frame bolt thread where the crash bungs thread into? My RH one is stripping bolt threads and I could use a helicoil type insert without moving the engine but would prefer to use a time sert if possible. I'd probably so both sides if I could get the engine dropped enough without having to alter the castle nut.
nope, you'll need to take out the top rear shaft to allow it to pivot on the bottom shaft, obviously removing the front 2 mount bolts aswell. it's not the castle locking nut thats the problem,it's the frame spacer at the top rear that will cause issues, the 2 tabs that go around the shaft are so fragile, any amount of force will snap them, making it hard to loosen the top rear spacer. if you need to re tap,or heli coil the engine, might be easier to do it by just removing the front mount bolts, put a jack under the sump and use that to line the holes up,then tap through the frame into the engine case.
