As a few of you know I'm mechanically challenged when it comes to bikes, so taking the front of a few months ago was a big step.

Well I want to take the rear off tonight/tomorrow to take my tyres and wheels to get new tyres fitted.

Any tips on taking the rear off, other than take brake caliper off, spindle, out, check the chain slack. remove wheel and so on

    cheers all

Only watch the weight of the wheel when the spindle clears ie don't trap your fingers and keep any spacers in order on the spindle pushed back through the swing arm.

Block of wood to hold the wheel up when you pull the spindle out, then you can release the chain off the sprocket easy..

Arthur I use a house brick with a plywood packer underneath, the tyre sits just right in the frog of the brick, depends on the height of your paddock stand of course.

Also, you can pull spindle out and push the wheel forward to release the chain to save adjusting the tensioners just to get the chain off the rear sprocket. The caliper will also remove while on its holder when lifting out the wheel. Then simply remove disc, cush, drive, spacers etc. so they dont get lost.

The next step is to buy your own tyre levers and watch a few youtube videos on how to change your own tyres with a couple of blocks of wood :-D
