Im hoping to buy an 08 blade from a mate to use as a track bike in a few months, other than changing the fairings and removing the lights is there anything else to consider? Is it worth removing the side stand?

I personally keep my stand on as there is not always someone around to help with paddock stands. GB racing covers are a good idea also just in case you have an off.

How much weight do you save roughly from removing lights etc?

As a first timer I'd forget changing fairings etc and spend my money on ensuring the suspension had a refresh or was upgraded, an 08 Blade will be very tired in that area.

GB Racing covers, decent track day tyres and better brakes.

Not that much weight that it will make much of a difference to your times. Its cheaper to repair and replace fibreglass track fairings compared to road gear if you have an off.

Makes sense to leave in road trim minus mirrors and number plate holder until im ready to commit to track fairings.

Got to the point last year where it felt too risky to be using my current bike on track, thinking having another blade will be the best option. Need some cash now lol.

Raced mine on stock suspension when i first started, only then i started chewing up tyres etc - stock serviced and set up it's fine for track days in my opinion, right to sharper end of fast group. Road fairings / race fairings is up to you.... personally i'd just ride as is until you crash then change lol.

Top mods for me would be:

    Master cyclinder
    New break lines, and pads.
    quick shifter.
    wet on wheels
