Hi Guys. Looking for some advice for my first track day at Donny this evening and Cadwell tomorrow. I have Pirelli diablo super corsa sp's. 2008 Rear 200/55/17 Front 120/ 70 WHAT IS THE OPTIMUM COLD TEMP PRESSURE? Thanks Andy
They will advise you at the track cos it depends on your tyres and track surface and temps on the day. I ran my S22s on a lukewarm Donny day 30f 30r, cold. Rear tyre could have been better at 28 or 26 even but I wasn’t pushing hard enough for it to make a difference.
Generally run super corsa sc1 or 2 and 30rear 33 front and lower the temperature according to the weather on the day,
@Muffking posted a pic somewhere on here showing a board with the recommended pressures for various manufacturers. Think it may have possibly even been a Donnington related thread.
I run my RS11 30 front 26 rear cold .....good tyre that didn't need warmers but steady couple of laps although at Silverstone due to the large straights and heavy breaking they soon get up to temp.
I was looking for a pair of RS11's but couldn't find em in stock anywhere. So I just bought another S22 rear for now. I've kinda lost interest in road riding somewhat so the RS11's would have been a better choice.
Yes low on stock if put in a order now ready for next year ...on road they are good below temps of 15c need to keep heat in them this is where a s22 is a better road tyre but in the recent heatwave 31c plus there loving it . Agree with Jay point tyre warmers are vital if a certain tyre is designed not to be ridden without warmers although as some people think does not make you invicable on the first lap ....
It's an interesting point - I hear a lot of incidences of red flags on sighting laps, they seem to be more common in inters groups. Is this just inexperienced riders playing with tyre warmers for the first time, or slicks maybe without warmers? I'm genuinely curious, I like to learn from mistakes but prefer it to be other people's rather than my own
I'm not sure I will have the Blade next year, so I wont order some RS11's just yet, new bike is bound to be either a 180 or a 200 not a 190 depending if I go up or down the CC's Haven't decided yet if I'll switch to an RS660, or an RSV4...
Sometimes they're on slicks and have been on warmers but when you off the warmers at some places you can be sat In pit lane for 10mins plus by then they have cooled slightly or some don't ride hard enough to keep the heat in them ,then one way ticket to the gravel trap ....same on road a Rs11 or supercorsa great in summer months but the next ones down better in early spring... Aprilla nice bikes but dealer back up would concern me unless you have a good one near you. Have you thought about a R1 great track bikes.
I'm not sure about the R1's advantages over the Fireblade (apart from the lovely engine sound), and whether it would make sense. I have to be careful about ergo's due to my age although being only 5'8" does help. I am more concerned about the top-heavy feel of my '14 blade, it's a beeatch to manhandle when the tank is full and I've already dropped it once at standstill I think it's the 11kg of ABS crap. The Priller dealer network (or lack of) is the only reason I haven't taken the plunge already. From the accounts I've seen so far the RS660 is the winner of current middle-weight bikes, I did like R7 but 70hp on track in the Inters, no thanks. And everyone knows the RSV4 is a fantastic bike if a bit expensive. Getting back on the topic (tyres!) - I haven't checked but I'm sure the RS660 will be a 180 and the RSV4 will probably be on a 200.
