looking for some advice from the guys who are doing trackdays and have had similar issues to what im having. i've got a 08 blade, with a later model showa shock fitted, everything else standard. bike is setup well, however im having some real issues with tyre longevity Is the later model shock really upto the trackday use? or has everyone invested in an aftermarket shock? or just a new spring?
What does the tyre look like, a pic might help. What tracks are you going to? The likes of donny can be hard on the right side of the tyre! Did you get your suspension setup by a suspension outfit during a track day or have your just tweaked it yourself?
i'll grab a pic next time im in the garage, the r/h side did start to tear, tyre guy made some suggestions which didn't really solve the issue and killed the new tyre by the first session of the second day. so it was bald by end of day two. it was Anglesey which is very abrasive and tough on r/h but im not sure if the shock is doing its job, or not. The suspension was setup by local suspension service, isnt sprung to my weight though, just setup as best as standard can be.
Had a good look around for you Friday Markie at Anglesey Circuit but I'm guessing you were on track when I was off so missed each other. I also need rear suspension setting up, think it's rebound problem that's shredded my back tyre. :-(
i was in garage 14 dude, with my rough looking blade hahaha when i wasnt wobbling around, the two lads i was with were pestering me for advice so didnt really get chance to have a wonder about, i think i seen you in the inters group on your sp though, flying if it was you!
Once you start pushing on the standard shock just isn't good enough I'm afraid. A decent second hand ttx will pay for itself very quickly.... Doubled my tyre life and much better feel A few psi can make a massive difference too
Haven't tried one, think they are better but I wouldn't think a huge leap compared to ohlins, ktech or others..... Get what you pay for tbh
On track yea it'll be the same for the later shock. Though it is a good bit better than the 08-12 shock it will still begin to fade on track.
think i'll need to keep an eye open for a used aftermarket one then.... your were flying Rich, looked real good!
i have the 12 showa which was revalved by Ktech...... along with 2012 forks (fully serviced) found it transformed the bike and ok I agree you can get better........for hundreds more !!
