If i was to do it what modifications would you guys recommend? The only differences it has from standard are a yoshi and pcv aswell as shorty levers. Im guessing rear shock and upgraded brake lines/ master cylinder?
The master cylinder is a must if I bought a blade tommorow the first mod I would do is MS as the difference it makes is light and day. I used to get really bad brake fade on track not anymore with the brembo MS ,I have the hell brake lines , I would love the full brembo set up like on the bmw as its fecking awesome but a lot of money . I fitted the 2012 rear shock will look at ohlins next year if I think I get to the point where I think I will benefit from it, as I don't want it because it looks pretty it must make a difference otherwise not worth the money .
I would leave it as it is and just get the suspension properly set up. I did a track day today at Cadwell on my bog standard RR4, and there were guys there in my group, granted it was the novice group, with track bikes that had loads of upgrades and I was the fastest one out there. A good suspension set up and decent tyres is all you need IMO and if there was space in the next group they would have put me up. I have never put my Blade on track before and today I really saw what they are capable of. Awesome track bike even as standard.
It all depends on the plans with racing in a couple o years, I would LOVE to take the blade on track properly, but if I went in the thou class I would end up dead lol. Could sell the snigger and probably get just about enough to cover the shock and MS, new components are soooo expensive!!
Put a brembo MS on and it changes the front braking on a blade totally meaning later breaking on track.
I never had the confidence before but since fitting the Brembo you can overtake on breaking, I will let you pass me on our next track day and show you how good they are .
I was hoping to get some pictures today but the photographer said they will be on his website on Wednesday so gotta wait til then, but I'll post them up as soon as I get them. As for the report, well a couple of my mates were doing a track day there and I couldn't get on it as it was fully booked so thought I'd go and watch anyway. Well, the second session had started and after about 3 laps, someone came off in the novice group in quite a spectacular fashion so a space opened up so I dived down to the office in the holding area and signed myself on. Stripped off my mirrors and number plate and off I went and by the end of the second session I was the fastest one out there, after I had reminded myself of the circuit outlay etc. I still can't believe how good she was round there, over the mountain she was nose up every time but kept it pinned into hall bends and she was round, no sweat. On my other bikes I've not felt confident round Chris Curve but the Blade was unbelievable and was so much faster than everyone else round there. My boss is an ex racer and told me to go up a group cos I was making everyone else look so slow, lol.
1.55 When I was following Scooby and his mate round I was just about staying with them and they were doing 1.52/1.53 think it was .Oh yeah by the way I know Scooby was holding back by the way bear in mind he does 1.48 round there (I also read tdr forum)lol
Not at all mate that's what I love about this forum /trackdays etc i love the banter we have. Get yourself sorted for the 2nd I should have my slicks on by then.
