The sun was shinning and the road was clear so i opened up the throttle, stupidly doing 70 in a 40. I then realized i was being followed by a traffic cop. By the time i noticed he was behind me i was doing 40ish, he followed me for a mile then he turned off. My question is, do you think he done me for speeding even though he didn't pull me over?
They don't need to pull you over any-more, if it's all captured on video keep a eye on the letter box (normally within two weeks) However saying that 70 in a 40 would be classed as a major offence and i would of thought the officer would of been more inclined to pull you over there and then
Well if U only noticed him behind U at 40 then maybe he'd only just joined from a side road and thus missed U doing 70 odd
I would say 100% would of stopped you incase you were committing further offences drink driving/other traffic offences etc.
I would think you will be more than ok .Sometimes this would do you good and make you more aware for future razzles .treat it as a bonus dude .
I'd say if he was gonna book you he would have done it there and then. It's his duty to stop you if he thinks you are a danger to the public. Normally they will pursuit but will abort it they think it would cause more danger and will do you on video evidence. Sometimes you get lucky as they have bigger fish to fry. But as Givover says if you get away with it see it as a double yolker. My opinion of course. BTW was the rozzer on 2 wheels or in a cager?
Ditto all the above, they would have pulled you over, the fact you slowed down and were aware of how quick you had gone no doubt contributed to you NOT getting pulled, very close shave that !
I think they have to follow you for 1/4 of mile going a over the limit and then average your speed across that distance

I was bimbling along the a27 after work and with a cheeky look in my mirror caught a distant glint of a blue light. Eased off a touch to have a good look and before I know it there was a blacked out BMW loaded with panniers with rider dressed head to toe black gear, I'd say he was ripping past me at about 120. Blues were flashing front and rear, he pulled in front of me sharply then tore off at speed at the next junction. Luckily I was being sensible but got me worried even so. Not seen this particular bike out there before, perhaps they were warming it up for the first sunny sunday?
Rest assured, if he was going to do you, he would have pulled you there and then, if for no other reason, than it avoids the hassle of having to issue a written NIP and a load of paperwork. By stopping you at the time (had he wanted to book you) he would have given you a verbal NIP and the paperwork would have been completed at the side of the road making life much easier for himself in nothing else. Not all traffic cops are out to book the world and their grandmothers. I never used to book anyone under 42 in a 30 on the basis that at 42+ the offender knew he was over the limit, and the argument about speedo accuracy and calibration became irrelevant. There are still a lot of traffic cops of my era still out there who think the same way.
