Well guys, this is the first time i've stripped/rebuilt one of these and not a particualrly nice job, ive had an RR7 and RRY which were a piece of p##s! Just a few jobs left, need new screen, rim tape, just got some new titax shorty levers so they need fitting then apply ventureshield and job done, can't put in to words how plesased i am with it! Thanks for all the interest, if i can share any knowledge then let me know, glad to help.
looking great mate bet you are over the moon with that! been waiting for your pics of it back together and it doesnt dissapoint, cant wait to get my panels back now, how long did it take to put them all on? as am dreading that bit!
Hi Bubba Thanks, am well chuffed, looks fantastic, got ventureshield from bike show, so thats my next job! What paint scheme you opted for? I think it probably took me a good day but also did a bit or a service on it. if its 08> its not the easiest but i put together a good user guide i put together from various stuff off the net aswell as some pics of my own. If you need any assistance just email me [email protected] Cheers
cheers steven your a gud un! iy if i get stuck will drop you line, it is the same model as yours but am going for the first elf colours not that much differance, iy thought you where ganin to say a day to put it back together did you manage not to break any of the tabs off? as thats what i dreading after reading all the posts on how brittle they are.
To be honest the fairings are pretty durable and flexible, which is good when you'r refitting the tail! best advice i would give is use plenty of masking tape as the paint marks pretty easily, if youve had the subframe painted, put plenty tape on as the tail tabs are pretty sharp when bending it over. Have a look at this sited, plenty of great tips FireBladerDk when on, scoll down to CBR1000RR and you will see a detailed breakdown of stripping fairings with pictures and descriptions of clips and fittings, very detailed, almost Germanic!! but great reference when rebuilding. Glad to offer any assistance, Spraybay work is top notch and Al is a top bloke, seen the Samsung livery they do which also lloks amazing but i'm a TT fan which is why i chose legends livery.
steveo thanks again for that link! what a find that is! he is some boy him isnt he, he is very anal in covering every last detail and thats what you want at the end of the day, sure it will help others on here as well, if someone could move it to the fairing removal thread would be great for everyone else as not sure how to move it, will get studying it now.
Your welcome and good luck, i'm sure its been covered but lings honda have a good access to honda parts which is useful for understanding how all parts fit together, good luck and just shout if u need any help, get some pics up when your done!
Thats the dogs mate, not a fan of light covers but they really do finish it off. You must be a proud dad
