had my 2009 blade stolen last month so I replaced it with a 2008 blade got the bike of ebay bloke told me he had to put a new tyre on the front to pass mot so I took it that he would put the same brand of tyre on it was getting late when he turned up the next morning I looked over the bike and he had put a none branded tyre I phoned him up and he said that it was ok to put a none branded tyre on I have all ways had both tyres the same I think this so called trader is a cowboy what do you think
Tyres don't have to be the same brand for an mot or even be a brand that everyone recognises, 99% of people buy matching sets to alleviate any handling problems, what he's done isn't necessarily wrong but it doesn't make it right either
I think I'd be giving the bike the once over, change the oil etc, cheap jacks tend to cut corners at every opportunity. On a bike that can go quite quickly I like things to be reassuringly good. I hope you have a good un tho. Mike.
theres nothing wrong with it as far legality goes, and if he never specified what tyres where on then theres not a lot you can do.what tyres are they? and what "unbranded" tyre is it? make sure you check the rating on the tyre wall to be sure it's suitable for a sports bike though.
When I was young and poor (still am poor but no longer young) I had some very lucky escapes with cheap non matched tyres now I'm old and wise (and have lived to tell the tale) I would rather not eat for a week than have crap tyres on the bike think of "power and contact patch" whilst the dealer has not done anything wrong its sharp practice I would change it get some thing that matches the rear and flog it on fleabay to some mug who does not value his life
What do you mean by non branded? No manufacturer details on the tyre at all? Maybe he had part worn tyre in stock and put that on?
Continental are not a bad make. If it bothers you why not buy a new matching front for £70 Tyre Bridgestone Battlax BT-016 Pro 120/70 ZR17 58W TL, Front - Tyre Leader and put the Continental on Ebay.
for the sake of £70 I think if I was selling a bike I would rather have a good name on ebay rather than cut corners
