After a skiing accident last week I'm now on crutches with my knee in a brace for the foreseeable future. Bike has already been sat outside without moving nearly 3 weeks :(

I've managed to get a friend to take the bike on for next week to give it a ride (he's insured to!) but am worried that if this injury has me off riding for months then how long will the bike be OK sat outside and not moving? There is no option to bring it inside at the moment.

    Absolutely gutted.

If it's the bike being out in the elements you're worried about get yourself a Vac-bag.

I got one for winter storage and it done the job in a damp garage, kept the shiny bits shiny.

I can't see it being less effective if it's actually outside

Get yourself a shed if you have the room! Will keep it dry at least then just disconnect the battery until it needs to be used

if you have the money or space to install an enclosure, this would be good, you can supplement it with some sort of bagging which will keep the bike dry (some have small fan for ventilation).
If not, then have the bike cleaned, valeted then fully treated with AFC-50 (there are companies who offer the full service) and get yourself a top notch outdoor cover (3~4 layer jobbies) . Try classic car specialist.
IMO 80% of outdoor bike covers are moisture traps
