Remember I told you about my free trackday at Oulton Park with Michelin? I'm booked in on the 19th April and as long as I turn up on Michelin Power Sport tyres it's completely free! Well, I went into Shorrocks Motorcycles who informed me of the deal and my day just got even better......On paying for my set of tyres which arrive next week Tony (tyre guy), tells me I also qualify for £25 cashback on the deal if I submit my receipt to Michelin! ............total cost of new tyres fitted and balanced and full trackday at Oulton Park............£226.99 !!!!!!
Aye reet chuffed! You could be forgiven for thinking I'm making it up but I assure you I'm not! And7rp2 is booked on it with me and we'll give you a full report when we've done it. I've also been told by Shorrocks tyre man (Tony) to go armed with info on our beloved site as Michelin may well take an interest in us.
Hope you dont mind me joining the party Tony just sorted me out on this as well,i was planning to do a track day next wednesday at oulton then get some new tyres.I thought you know what i will ring Tony at shorricks as you never know well what a top boke just comeback to me and sorted it,he is fitting the tyres prior to friday so happy days. They are a bigger profile on the rear though 190/55/17 . Now my problem is do i do 2 trackdays and my mrs hit the roof or just the friday one ?

He had to ring Michelin, Shorricks got someone a job at Michelin who used to work for them so i think he called in a favour,but as you said what a top bloke he didnt have to go to all that trouble. Sounds like its going to be a good day lets hope the weather plays game.

I'm day off friday though, hmm decent weather get out on the bike, Gill says ring/txt see if thefirebloke fancys a day out. Me having no sense of times dates etc duly did. Err, he's here doing Oulton park. Anyway just off the phone from Steve, the upshot is I'm spewing my Friday ride out, going over to meet Steve and I'm coming to Oulton park in the van for the day. So ill get to See the boys and spend the day with my mate Barney talking shit and trying to get a few decent pictures of the guys. And a very handy insight for me on how things run and you guys prepare. Look forwards to seeing you all on the day.
Gary have you tried ringing shorricks see if they can get you on that's if you want to That's what I did and the forecast is good be a shame to waste a good weather day and not get on track. Tyres would cost you £239.99 but a track day is normally £150 issh so worth a spare set of tyres at the least .
That would have been a great idea Jason, Now heres the but, and the reason. I looked on the web page for Oulton Park, there are spaces available. But It also states race licence holders only for that day, now getting the deal done through Shorrocks would perhaps worked ok, I'd have been booked in I'm sure if a place was available. Here's the reason. This would be my first day out on a new to me track bike a new to me whole experience in a strange enviroment, now I know Jimbo would at this point be lining up a slap the back of the head for doubting myself. But seriously, these guys on friday are practicing for the HotTrax event on Saturday and a complete novice out amongst that lot would surly be a recipe for disaster, I'm no way doubting myself or my ability. But for this one, I'll just get the smell them roses. Talk shit with Barney and try and capture the days events on the micro sd card
