This year, my xmas present to myself will be a new exhaust... an Akropovic to be precise: this one
Have looked around, its the only one I like, that has the quality I demand.

All my previous bikes had their original exhaust, and I'd never bothered swapping, so little clueless here I'm afraid. So that I can account for all the little odds and sods I might need to purchase, what do I need in regards:

    - the oxygen (lambda) sensor? Looks like the Akropovic doesnt provide for one, so what do I do to avoid any ECU/OBD problems?

    - the exhaust valve... again, the Akropovic doesnt have one, so what do I do to avoid any ECU/OBD problems?

    - all the Akropovic sites say that re-tuning is not needed... should I believe this? Or, in the real-world, is a PC and air filter change required?

    - actual fitting... do I need to buy anything to tidy up the underside of the tail?

    Bike is an RR-7.

    Any help, gratefully appreciated.

    Hi mate,

The O2/Lambda sensor is in the headers on the RR7, so unless it's a full system it won't effect it.

With regards to the exhaust servo, you can either disconnect the cables at the exhaust end and tuck them out of the way (which alot of people do) or you can remove the whole exhaust servo and fit one of these:

I don't think it's a requirement to retune, but a Power Commander never hurts to tidy up the fuelling :)

As for the rear end, a tail tidy always looks nice. There are a few makes, I have an Evotech one.

Also, if you want to remove the standard heat shield, I have some sticky back heat shield material & a template.

Recently fitted a full Akra race system and the bike runs fine. I expect a PC and map would make it better but I'm not going to bother (yet) no need for the time being.

As said above, disconnect the exhaust valve cables and the lambda sensor will be fine.

About to change my pipes over.... But can't find a how to/guide, is it as easy as I looks?

1 bolt on foot peg, one on header, O2 sensor and exhaust valve delete?

Just don't want to have the bike on bits when the family come around later
