My mirror nut came loose and has fallen..the one that goes into the nose cone.. where can i get a replacement from? i tried the nuts in the fairing but they are too small..
I dont think you will find one quickly outside of ordering another from Honda, i have replaced a few of my ' nuts ' and bolts from my 954 simply because they were looking a bit tarnished, and my Honda dealer could order ever small washer and nut i needed, great stuff.
Same thing happened to me on a rideout to Scarborough the other year but on BOTH mirrors! Guess it pays to check they're tightened occasionally. Luckily, I found a Pound shop on the front that had a huge bag of different-sized nuts & bolts and it had some that looked almost identical to the originals, so got a bargain. I'd check DIY places for similar as dealers are likely to charge like a wounded bull, if my ex-dealer was anything to go by, the robbing gets.
Dont risk choosing any old bolt... they tend to have different sized collars to accomodate the various widths of the plastics... attempting to fit the wrong bolt to the wrong place can result in loose plastics... or worse, you can inadvertantly crack the plastic...... bet you'd never guess how I know that!!!
You can try a fastner place like this Metric Fasteners or loads of other similar ones just google them to find a local one. You can sometimes get a bag of screws/nuts for the price of one from a dealer if you know what size and pitch you need. Sometimes you can get a corrosion resistant finish material i.e. Stainless or titanium if your being flash (Try pro bolt for these, tad overkill for a mirror bolt) Some things that are not a standard size just get them from the dealer.
There are very of them in the UK, but in Manchester City centre is 'Class Ohlson' who have a superb range of allen key bolts (M6 , M8's etc.) plus nuts , washers etc. Does not help you much and sure you have sorted it by now.
