Sounds like you're talking about the "intake flapper" mod. (search for the term in quotes)

Take off lhs & rhs fairing, unplug the actuator and tube to the servo. Then I found it easier to remove the tubes from the tube covers, unclip the spring from the back of the tube then twist the gold servo above the air tubes (the spring should fall out)

Next take a large flat head screwdriver and ease up the flap. It is hinged either side and will come out . Now seal up the hole, I used a round piece of plastic and silicone sealant.

All that is left is the bottle at the back of the nose in between the lights, with the nose off, remove the black bottle and linking tubes. The connectors (l&r) I tie wraped to the cables on the left.

NB, All that should be left is the tube to the motor, this is to be blocked. I folded it over and tie wrapped it.

Feel free to correct me or add anything I have missed

    Just a quick question......
If i remove all of the vacuum hoses from the lhs and rhs of the bike..there is also a hose coming from the engine... am i right in thinking that once all of the hoses are removed from the bike all i need to do is plug/block of the hose which comes from the engine? if so then what do i do with the electrical side of it?

Unplug the actuator's and use them as paper weights. I tidied the connectors up by cable tying them both on the LHS. Did you take the flaps and solinoid out and block the hole?

If you can take the fiddly fairing and nose cone off, this mod will be a doddle.
Unscrew the tube from the cover, on the rear is a small hole that the end of the spring is located. push this in and the flap will fall down. The spring may fall off at this point. Then twist the solinoid it will come out with ease. Then looking through the hole that the solinoid has left, you can see the flap. Use a big ass flat head and twist the flap, it is hinged at either end and will pop out easily. If you need any pics or help just let me know.
