Just fitted my Ventura luggage onto my 2012 blade using the same L-brackets from my 2008 blade. Although new blade has same sub frame as old one because of the different tail piece I had to use 4x13.5mm long spacers with an Id of 6mm. Now fits beautifully and saved my bacon as it was a 10 day delivery for 12 ones and the nw200 wouldn't wait. Also fitted the brackets for my Honda racing tail pak to the same bolts for lighter trips (19lts). According to Ventura website fitting instructions for 12 bracket tail piece has to be dremmeled as did I so no minus fitting the 08 one. Hope this helps some of you.

I had an 08 Blade with Ventura luggage but now have a 12 BMW S1000RR. I don't want to buy another set of brackets to fit the Beemer and I heard MCN got them to fit - anyone else heard of this???

Thanks for posting the info. Just bought a 2012 Blade and wrongly assumed my Ventura L Brackets would fit. Where did you get the 13.5 mm spacers from? Also I presume you needed longer bolts, where can you get these from? The part number listed on the Ventura website seems to be the same for 2008-2011 and for 2012 for some reason. Have you got a link to the fitting instructions for the 2012 model?

    Cheers,

    Ian.

I am 99% the parts for both are the same but tail unit AS STANDARD needs to be cut / dremmeled - but sounds like Flash sorted this -

I know this sounds crap but for us non-engineer types it would be really handy to see a picture / have a link to where to buy the spacers you need for this to work.

I'd be amazed if the Blade brackets fit a BMW -

Many thanks for the reply. Yes I've checked the Ventura web site and it gives the same part number H147/B. I can't find the instructions for the 2012 that give info on the cutting required. I can't PM Flash as not enough posts yet.

    Cheers,

    Ian.

Iirc you only have to dremel/file out the non-abs 12's. It's the non-abs that has the plastic painted under panel, and it is that panel that has to have 4 semi circles / crescents filed out to create space for vertical mount tubes on L brackets. Not a job I'd particular want to do in a new blade. Also, might not be so noticeable on a black undertray, but if you take them l brackets off at all, you'll sure notice those 4 areas on the white ones.

Many thanks for the reply. Mine is a 2012 ABS model. I can see the four bolts direct onto the subframe (2 either side of the plastic undertray) but can't see any way that the Ventura brackets will clear the plastic tail unit - so maybe this is the bit that needs dremmeling :( The tail unit on my 2008 Non ABS blade was narrower and the brackets fitted fine on that.

If anyone has any further info on fitting these brackets to a 2012 ABS blade I'd be grateful :)

    Cheers,

    Ian.

The UK importers (Motohaus) have been good enough to get back to me with an updated manual :-

    Instruction for 2012 Models
    1. Remove the seats and rear body, remove the body
    coloured rear underbody panel.
    2. From underneath the tail of the bike remove and
discard the four downward facing allenhead bolts from
    the rear hand holds.
    3. Fit the L-Brackets at these points as in Diagram #1 with
    the M6 x 19 x 3.0 flat washers supplied between the
bike and the L-Bracket tubular mountings at all four
mounting points, secure with the M6 x 90 allenhead
bolts supplied at the forward mountings and the M6 x
70 allenhead bolts supplied at the rear mountings,
    leave loose.
    4. Fit a Pack-Rack or Sport-Rack into the L-Brackets,
ensure the rack is level and tighten all mounting bolts.
    Remove the rack.
    5. Before refitting the rear underbody panel, using a
round file, carefully remove material from the outer
edges where the body panel will come to contact with
    the L-Bracket mountings.
    6. Refit all body panels and the seats, refit the rack.
    7. Tighten the L-Bracket locking devices by following the
procedure in the ‘General Instructions For Use’.

With mine being the ABS model, I don't have the body coloured underpanel. I need to have another look at the bike when I get chance.

    Cheers,

    Ian.

    Ian,

Dave RR posted a while ago on the Touring Luggae thread that he managed to fit the Ventura to a 2012 ABS without filling or hacking any bodywork!

Mystery solved :) Just checked the brackets that I had on my 08 Blade and they are a different part number (H132). It looks like when the later Blades came out Ventura brought a new part out H147/B which is also compatible with the earlier 08 onwards Blades (and so they list it for them as well). I will get some H147/B ordered.

    Cheers,

    Ian.

H147/B Brackets just arrived and fitted. Its a tight fit, but they do go straight onto the 2012 ABS model with no dremelling :)

    Cheers,

    Ian.

I'm thinking of getting the ventura kit for my 09 blade.

I previously used it on my zx10 and must admit it was great. On the kwak the L brackets fitted on the rear pillion bolts and then had a bracket running behind the number plate.

I have looked a couple of picture on here and the L brackets seem to disappear into the rear seat fairing.

Can anyone tell me or better still show me pictures of where the brackets bolt onto. I,m guessing the rear seat fairing has to be taken apart to fit them??

Any info would be much appreciated.

For your 09 model it won't need any modifications and you won't have to remove the tail unit, there are four bolts in the subframe that I think hold the number plate holder etc on. Just remove these and fit the Ventura Brackets and supplied bolts.

    FITTING INSTRUCTIONS
    Instruction for 08-11 Models
    1. Remove and discard the downward facing allenhead
bolts from up underneath the tail section of the bike.
    2. Fit the L-Brackets as in Diagram #1 with the M6 x 19 x
3.0 flat washers supplied between the bike and the LBracket
tubular mountings at all four mounting points,
secure with the M6 x 90 allenhead bolts supplied at the
forward mountings and the M6 x 70 allenhead bolts
supplied at the rear mountings, leave loose.
    3. Fit a Pack-Rack or Sport-Rack into the L-Brackets,
ensure the rack is level and tighten all mounting bolts.
    4. Tighten the L-Bracket locking devices by following the
procedure in the ‘General Instructions For Use’.

This is it fitted to my 08 model (which should be same fitting as your 09)
