    So the story goes...

Bought a 1990 VFR 400 NC30 about a month ago, rode fine for 200 miles, then I ran out of fuel and ran it dry

Since then I've been having some issues with it..

At first it was nocking 2 cylinders off at anything above 110mph, realised that was a jap restriction thing so fitted a derestricter on the speedo cable and sorted it, since then its been having other issues, I broke down a few miles from my house and the bike just sounded like it was flooding then koncked out.

Since then I have taken the carbs off and blasted them all out, checked float height etc. and put them back in

Now the thing will only run on full choke and is kicking out a fair bit of white smoke

I've also checked fuel filter, air filter and plugs

    Any ideas??

Starting to get pissed off with it

I would double check the carb jets are completely unblocked.

You may have pulled a load of crap through from the tank when you ran it dry?

Was the fuel bowls full of particulate when you stripped them?

Not particularly I was suprised how new everything looked tbh not much in there at all, I wonder if the pilot jets needed more of a blasting, the main jets were definetely well clear

Ultrasonic cleaning is the best option

as above, need to be carefull cleaning jets as sticking anything down them can change the D and then mess up the fueling.does sound like you've dragged some shit through it.check your fuel filter to see how much crap is ijn that, will give you an idea of how much shit was in the tank

My mates Vfr managed to melt a hole in the bottom of the fuel float in the carb which then caused it to flood as the float wouldn't float
