Need Voltage Regulator advice bike not charging, checked stator, seems ok, putting out loads of voltage but reg fails the tests, so looks like new one needed. So uk one £85-95+ pp, chinese one £17 free delivery, which would you go for? Voltage Rectifier Regulator For HONDA CBR1000 RR 2004-2010 CBR600 RR 2007-2012 | eBay
I'm not right clued up on this so I think I'd go genuine.. Couldn't be ased waiting 2 weeks for Chinese post just to have it fail again then buy a genuine one
2005 but done all the stator checks for resistance and voltage and its putting out loads of volts so that should be fine Done the volt meter tests on regulator and it fails those tests
How many miles ? This could be the first example of a RR going on an 04 onwards blade I have heard of! Has it had the new stator?
Not sure about new stator, bike only done 18500, 11500 with me All tests point to RR though, and there is always a first time for anything lol
Not really sure on used? Could be about to go bad it's self Will be new from Honda or new from China I reckon, might try the China one as got to much on for bike riding for a while Amway, and can then give a review of how good/bad Chinese ones are lol Time will tell
I know people have recommended Electrex before. Not cheap though. http://www.electrexworld.co.uk/acatalog/RR110.html
I'm sure you checked already but it's not the battery is it? Only saying as they tend to go when the weather gets colder.
battery is fine Martin RR has failed the voltmeter tests, rest of charging system passed those, so thinking it must be the RR? Bike runs fine but battery won't charge, when you check battery (after Full charge) the voltage at the terminals doesn't change while increasing the revs, so no charging getting to battery
Are you completely happy with the testing you have done? as to your question would I use Chinese electronics, Yes I would. RR is a simple thing. Mike.
well I did follow this to the letter: http://www.electrosport.com/media/pdf/fault-finding-diagram.pdf and it seems to point to the RR
Seems really comprehensive, I can't help past what you have done. Looks like a new RR. Re the Chinese RR It's a hell of a lot cheaper, they may use components that are less accurate in there construction and the tolerances of output etc may not be as accurate. but for what it's doing that isn't important, as long as the battery is getting voltage near enough it's fine. Just because they are not as precise doesn't mean the longevity is compromised, as I said it's basic tec. Good Luck, Mike.
I have ordered that Chinese one now, just because its so cheap and will let you know if I blow up or anything lol will be interesting to see if: 1. it works properly? 2. it last long enough for the price? 3. it doesn't cause me any serious problems? time will tell will keep you all informed, just in case anyone else ever needs one? that .pdf file is great too for anyone with the same Charging problem
Did you not say you tried the voltage over the battery terminals with a fully charged battery as if you did and you got no more voltage from the battery with an increase in revs this says stator to me. 04-05 are crap for burning out stators and need the matching pair from Honda or David Silver. Good Luck
Don't worry, if all else fails I'll have a complete donor bike on Tuesday that can be used to track the fault down
Well new RR in the post now so will see if that cures it or not If that don't work then I will take the stator out and get it fixed, cheaper than buying new? Someone put a link on here for a company that rewinds stators But stator is putting out loads of volts and the resistance test also shows no problems which is why I think it RR
