In my opinion the stars win hands down in the looks department, which, if we're honest is the main motivating factor in any bike related purchase. But I have been offered a brand new set of Vortice lux boots for £150! They look pretty cool but are verging on tacky with the chrome... what do you think? I think they look much tougher than the stars and love the fact you can replace every part if you need to, but cant get away from the fact the stars look better. I can't however get them for £150 and would have to scrimp and save / sell one of the kids / sell a kidney to get them. Any advice appreciated
Id [ay the extra for the Tech's .. I love mine. Super comfy and look the nuts. I know a few boys have had problems with them but mine are 3 years old now and no faults at all apart from needing new toe sliders but they wear down on all boots so cant complain . I got the Magnesium sliders now which hold up loads better . Gutted they don't spark thou lol
Not sure what's happened to SIDI. Their boots seem so over the top these days with more adjustment than you could ever need vents, spangly bits and reflective stuff everywhere. But on the other foot Had some Vertigo Mega Gore-Tex for several years now and they have been the only bit of my kit that's remained waterproof. Have some Daytona (prefer the simple look) for Sunday best. If anyone is after SIDI I can usually get a good price.
It's the R for me as Dan said really comfy although the stitching has now come lose leaving a small hole on the instep and I have also worn a hole through one of the inner boots. I may go for these next......... Daytona Security Evo Boots | Daytona Boots | Infinity Motorcycles But maybe in a dif colour
I'd never buy sidi as long as I live!! Watched a mate rear end a car that pulled out in front of him at 90mph and the lasting memory I'll take to the grave was watching his boots burst of his feet.... Couldn't care less what boots, gloves or lids look like, performance comes first! If you get something that looks sweet but is the best performing gear for your budget great, but who cares if they look great but fall to bits when needed most. Next boots I get will be the daytonas for this reason.
Ah but I love retro so the style is all good... Lol but where on earth can you buy boots that are race quality, offer awesome protection and waterproof etc all for one boot? Plus they seem to last forever. No brainer for me.
Is that £849.99...? for boots? Has the world gone completely mad!? I'm having a hard time accepting the fact my boots are going to set me back £150 and your talking the thick side of 1k! Clearly we are from two very differant worlds my friend... The vortice is said to be a very well made boot in reviews and comes with a £300 price tag, like the Tech R's - the point being, I can't afford £300 now but can get these vortice for £150 which seems like a great deal. My smx boots have a hole on the front so I need something asap!
never had a problem with sidi boots and really comfy, i have just brought a pair of alpinestar goretex boots for a trip we have planned for scotland, the boots are a completely diffrent fit so defo try before buying, i have a 2nd hand pair of sidi boots on ebay at the mo if you want to save a few quid. eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace
I love my Sidi Corsa Air and was going to replace with another pair of Sidi until I tried the Vortice, with all the daft straps to hook it to i went for the Tech R and love them
Why the Hell did you tell me that !!! Christ no But also to add to the thread, I love my supertech R's and its my second pair of the same boots, (sold the last pair when I got rid of the bike for a short time), which shows you I think they are great
Matey for £150 that is a dam good deal............I've had Sidi for years and crash tested my current pair without any contructional damage.......its your choice but that deal is way too tempting if it was me.......is just another Shoei / Arai conundrum everyone has an allegiance to one.....just my 2 penneth
Sidi's all day long, with that choice. Alpinestars sponsored me a few years ago and I had some Supertech-R's but couldn't get on with them. Too bulky or something. Plus the catch bust after a while. I switched to Sidi last year from TCX and Daytona. To be honest the Sidi's are a cracking boot. The Vortice does have a lot of adjustment but it gives that perfect fit, although they are also pushing the ST boot towards the race side of things now and they are being worn by a few in BSB. Plus they do them in a Goretex if thats what your looking for. Daytona Security Evo are the best boots I've worn but with a 4 figure price tag, too much in my opinion. At £150 thats a steal for Vortice's!!
Thanks guys, I'm going for it - how do they fit to size? My stars were 47 and tight so am going for 48's but i wear 45-48 depending on brand. Im 11.5 in "real" sizes
why don't you pop into your local bike shop and try a pare on. See what fits then order from where you got that price from. I gather it's online?
