So i always wondered when it would be my turn to start one of these threads, guess today was the day! Got back from a sunday ride & i was pretty tired & in a hurry to get home, so my guard was down. Ended up getting hit by a car from the back while taking a u-turn at an intersection. The car was illegally coming straight on a road only meant for taking u-turns so i never expected someone to be there. Still my fault for not being careful at an intersection. I heard squealing brakes, looked back to see a car headed right for me, the second i started to give it throttle he hit me & i fell off. The bike skid a good 15-20 feet. I'm fine thanks to wearing gear, though i still have some bruises on my feet (TCX boots FTW, otherwise would have a broken ankle) So as for the bike, right side fairings are badly scratched, tail section is cracked, left footpeg is broken & some scratches on my Leo Vince & right side engine casing. I had no frame sliders maybe the damage wouldn't have been so bad if i had some! So i'm looking for right-side fairings in 2010 winning red scheme. If anyone can point me to a place where i can buy them? Or will i have to buy a complete set? Does anyone know if it's possible to buy pre-painted OEM fairings? It would be impossible to repaint them & have them match the OEM paint & even if i could manage that i would still be missing the stickers etc. If pre-painted panels aren't available & i have to get a whole set i'm thinking i might try getting a 2012 set with the headlights. I heard you can fit it on 08-11 without any mods? Can someone please confirm if this is true. This is the color scheme:
Ya need a repsol scheme mate. Open the throttle and it would have got away, unlike the slower colours.
Never good to hear about an off but good to hear the time we take to put on our gear is worth while! Good look with the rebuild.
Unlucky, but as said, you walked away. The bike can always be replaced. Don't go with Blaggers choice of Repsol colours though, as quick as the Repsols are It will always be in the garage being rebuilt
Sorry to hear about your 'off' ... glad that you are OK tho' Now then .... if you fancy changing to a black bike I can do you a full set of plastics from my 08 bike .
Glad you are ok mate.I'm sure you can find bodywork for it.Might not be the colour of the original but you could change the whole set for the price of one panel. That's why I bought a second set rare Hannspree livery to use so the originals don't get scratched or broken.Maybe you could sell the originals to pay for the damage.Good luck with it.
@ BLAGGERS, Hahaha yeah i think i repsol might have saved my butt, time to change the fairings me thinks!! Luckily i managed to find the exact fairing panel on ebay at a a steal of a price, it's got a small scuff mark on it but at $100 i can't complain! Now i just need to find a couple of other small parts, i'm thinking of getting engine case sliders & frame sliders as well this time. Any recommendations for both?
If ya going for a slide keep ya leg under the bike and dont let go of the bars. Best engine casing ever.
Even if you hadnt got away (very unlikely with repsols extra speed) I think youll find that the teflon which is only in the orange repsol paint (its why Repsols are so quick because they are non stick) would of meant you would of naturaly glided on the tarmac with literally no damage. Its why they paint the motogp bikes like it, to cut down on crash damage. Its true I swear!
Nope he was offering me around a 100 quid for the damage that too after two days of negotiations. Since the police had told me he was at fault i've taken him to court, though i doubt i'll get anything at the end. He actually spent the night in jail & will probably end up spending four times the amount he was offering me on getting bail for himself & his car. My bike is still at the police station, i will hopefully get it back tomorrow. I'll post pics of the damage when i get it back. I've already found the middle cowl/fairing, footrest & tail light. Just need to look it over for other damage as i didn't really get a chance after the accident.
