Today I finished work in aber at 10.30am and made my way home , Get a call can you check sub station in your town centre please . Yeah no prob's , so get to sub around 12.30 easy fix couple of new fuses job done , walk back to my van in a legal parking space and 3 old women try to cross the road in front of me , road clear away they go and all of a sudden this evo comes doing I reckon 50/60 mph in 30mph , Slams his brakes on loads of smoke big skid marks and hits the side of my van from back to front , old ladies back on pavement I get out go to this guy he drives off , upto crossroads he turns left I do the same , major traffic lights on next bit of road , he goes straight thu 60/70 easy on red , I lost him then so police Station and there 3 men in there who he also hit , and loads of people ringing up , Statement done , and it turns out I know this lad so a visit is in order later on to his dads farm , my new sprinter is damaged I'm ok but why do people drive like this ? So I've had a phone call would I come to station tomorrow , but now if no insurance details of this driver or he's not got any who pays for damage to van ? Hope not me
if he is not insured there is a compensation fund that we all pay into when we take out insurance , but i think that is only used if you are insured 3rd party, as fully comp insurances pay out if you are hit by someone else.
Barney get off to the doc mate.You were hurt, not for insurance money but so the police WILL do something about it.They couldnt care less if no-one is hurt.Worth a go I'd say.
That doesnt mean you can drive into a hedge and claim . it is only if somebody without insurance hits you . lol.
I totally agree with you and I would want to go "have a word" with an idiot like that especially with the three oldies crossing the road. Only thing to bare in mind is probably that if there's some sort of altercation could it affect your case? Dunno much about law but I imagine if you wanted to get justice for your van and the other drivers you'd have to play everything by the book.
Phone his Dad up and tell him his lad is a wanted man and to go and hand himself into the Police - don't say why, just leave it at that
Barney the police and insurance won't tell you this but if you are hit by an uninsured driver you can claim of the MIB, no don't call will smith it's not men in black! All insurance companies pay into a funding called the motor insurance bureau, this is put into place for things just like this. They only really mention the MIB to more serious cases and injuries etc but you are well within your rights to still claim.
Sorry I just don't get it! Some idiot drives like a looney smashes into a van and maybe others , people could have been killed and everyone thinks its just a MIB claim Hello! Hit and run in my book is a major crime .I understand the "going to a farm for a rant " but there is a bigger picture here and also there will be cameras in a town centre.
Been to farm and his dads got no time for him , he's locked up in police cell Welshpool livestock market today and he is over the limit. BASTARD ........
