The book says that I need a YTZ7S to replace the unit on my 2010 ABS. The one fitted is marked YTZ10S.
    Anyone know the difference?

The ytz7s is smaller in size and wouldn't be enough for your bike and is for non abs bikes! I have a ytz7s in my non abs 2008 bike

Don't think this has been posted in the correct section mate, as it's more suited to maintenance section but miby one of the mods could move it if they spot it.

Anyway, as said the batteries have different physical diamentions along with the 7s only having 6amp worth of power and the 10s having 8.6amps.
But besides these size differences the positive and negative poles are on different sides, The 7s has its positive pole on the front right but the 10s has its positive pole on the front left!
So you couldn't just fit the larger of the two batteries to get more power from the battery as it won't connect to the bikes loom correctly.

    Battery

    Thanks

I am going to buy a Lithium Ion unit for my 'bike and the people keep telling me that the YTZ7S is the one for all 'blades, despite the fact that I am shouting back that the one fitted to mine is a YTZ10S!

    Anyway, sorted thanks

I think a lithium battery is the only way forward.

Ive seen bigger batteries on 125's, the stock one just don't cut it

Had a lithium YTZ14S on my VFR over the winter and no problems so wanted to gert one for my 'blade. I am going to now that I know the correct type.

You can use a maintenance charger as long as it does not have a desulphating cycle. That will destroy a Lion battery and they can be revovered when totally discharges now. I think the mainstream battery manufacturers are bricking it so spreading negative rumours.
